What do you think ? I'm not sure.

It needs quite some adaption in my mind. I do always look at the avatars.

Yes me too, I just tried it as an example after this weeks tip.

I'll see but I'm not sure I like it.

This weeks tip is Possibly Related Threads

Did you know the forum can show you  Possibly Related Threads ?

Let's take a look at this thread by Kat Psoriatic Arthritis Symptoms

Scroll down to the bottom of the thread and you will see this.

[Image: yNbvO7g.png]

The software has searched the forum for threads it thinks may be of interest to you, it has taken the title of the thread you are viewing and given you 5 more threads about psoriatic arthritis. It's not perfect and it does depend how many threads there are similar, but it will show the best 5 it thinks may be of interest.

If you click the first link Psoriatic Arthritis and food and scroll to the bottom you will find it has picked up a couple of different threads based on the thread subject.

Have a play, you never know what you may find.

Any questions let me know.

See you next week.

This weeks tip is Running A Poll

To run a poll you need to start a new thread and make a post saying what your poll is about. See Here Starting a new thread if you don't know how to start a new thread.

Just above the "Post Thread" button you will see a box I want to post a poll tick the box and choose your number of options for the poll. Then click "Post Thread"

Now you will be asked to create your poll.
Question: A brief question (Your description is in the post)
Number of options: How many answers to your question.
Poll options: Put an answer in each box.
Options: Choose if you want multiple choice / public poll / or both.
Poll timeout: How long you want the poll to run (put 0 to keep it running indefinitely)

Click "Post New Poll" your poll will be just above your thread.

You can always go and try it out here [Group Specific]

Any questions shout out.

See you next week

An avatar is the little picture you see in members profiles, by default every member has the one you see below. Some members keep the default one and some change it to their own image, it's your choice but personally I like avatars as they make people more individual.

[Image: pcavatar.png]

Like I said you are welcome to keep the default one but let's look at changing it, it's a simple process but there are some restrictions and obviously anything that breaks our rules like advertising or inappropriate content will get removed.

Ok first we need to get an image, if you do a web search for "Avatars" you will find thousands of free ones to choose from (*note animated ones won't work) some websites let you make your own or you could simply use a picture of your own.

Your avatar needs to be on you device as a link won't work it also needs to be 100x100 pixels and 50 KB but don't worry too much about that because If your avatar is too large, it will automatically be resized but it may look better if you size it yourself.

Now you have your avatar you need to go to your control panel you can find that here Control look at the left hand column and click "Change Avatar"

[Image: wxHCbY2.png]

Now you will see the current avatar that is shown in your profile, click the "Browse" button where it says "No file selected" find the image on your device and choose it. The no file selected will now show the name of your image, click "Change Avatar" and the job is done.

Go to your profile or look at one of your posts and you should see your new shiny avatar. If you don't see it, it may be your cache, you can clear that or wait and it will change eventually.

Any problems let me know.

See you next week.

I used your forum tip and changed my Avatar to the base of a big'ol tree in the forest.   Big Grin
Thanks, Fred.

This week we are learning how to do Internal Links

If you want to add a link to another post, thread or board you can use a simple piece of code.

#1: This one is for adding a link to another thread in your post.
Add the code below to your post but change *** for the tid number. you will find this either by looking at the URL in your browser it will look like this: https://psoriasisclub.org/showthread.php?tid=314 or some of you can find it by hovering your mouse over the thread title.

So to add a link to "What age did you get psoriasis" you would remove *** and put 314 (which is the tid) using the code below in your post.
Code:
[thread=***]

You should see this in your post.
Code:
[thread=314]

When you push "Post Thread" it will show like this.
What age did you get psoriasis?

#2 This will add a link to a post in another thread.
This time you are looking for the pid number and adding it to the code below. The pid number can be found by clicking on the right of a post in a thread or hovering over the number. it looks like this: https://psoriasisclub.org/showthread.php...93#pid4493

So to go to post number 10 in the above thread you would add 4493 to the code below.
Code:
[post=***]

So you would see this in your post.
Code:
[post=4493]

Click "Post Thread" and it will show like this.
RE: What age did you get psoriasis?

#3 This one will add a link in your post to a board.
Find the fid number by going to your chosen board or hover over it's description, it looks like this: https://psoriasisclub.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=7

So for that you will add 7 to the code below.
Code:
[forum=***]

To look like this.
Code:
[forum=7]

That will show Psoriasis And Psoriatic Arthritis Topics on your post.

You're welcome to try them in the [Group Specific] board if you want.

* If you see [Group Specific] any time it's because you are not logged-in, or you are not a member of the relevant group to see the thread/post/etc.

Any problems please let me know.

Fred.

This weeks tip is Spoiler Button

The spoiler button is used when you want to hide something in your post that can only be seen by clicking the button.

Imagine you are posting about a new book you have finished reading, you want to share your thoughts about the book but don't want to give too much away. You could put something in the spoiler that may give too much away and others could make their own choice on opening it or not.

You could run a quiz and have the answers hidden in the spoiler, or you could just use it for a bit of fun. Just look at it as something hidden from view till someone clicks the button like this example.

[+]Spoiler
You just had to have a look didn't you ? Now click it again to hide this text.

So how do we use this magic ? Below is the code used to make the spoiler you just used. *Don't worry the hard work is already done for you

Code:
[sp]You just had to have a look didn't you ? Now click it again to hide this text.[/sp]

If you look you will see an opening code and a closing code with the text in-between. The opening code is sp in brackets and the closing one is /sp in brackets. Like this.

Code:
[sp]TEXT HERE[/sp]

You can also put images in the spoiler.

[+]Spoiler
[Image: 2_09_10_13_3_01_08.jpeg]

Any questions let me know.

See you next week.

This weeks tip is Custom User Title

By default we have 4 User Titles.

Newbie (0 - 4 posts)
Novice (5 - 9 posts)
Member (10 - 99 posts)
100 + Member I Just Cant Stop ! (Exactly what it says)

Once you get to the "Member" group and above you can choose a custom user title.

#1 In your control panel click Edit Profile or go here Edit on the right hand side you will see this:

[Image: uuFcuPj.png]

#2 In the white box put your custom user title.

#3 Scroll down and click "Update Profile"

Now go to your profile or one of your posts and you should see your new user title, to revert back to default check the box "Revert to group default" and update again.

You can change your custom user title as often as you wish, but please remember to keep to the rules of no links or spam.

Any questions let me know.

See you next week.
