Hi All

My name is Beth Anne I'm 30 and I've had Psoriasis ever since I was 14. It was so severe first time I was under derm and prescribed cream upon cream (diprobase, Dovobet, Dovonex, Cocois and Alphosyl) nothing worked it eventually cleared upon its own accord at 24 came back when I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome and hormone imbalances

Now at 30 it's back with a vengeance I'm covered from head to toe I'm constantly have to hoover as I'm so flaky lol I'm using emollients to moisturise and Dovonex cream but it's too widespread for cream anymore UVA therapy didn't work "( I've just resigned myself to the fact I'm meant to be itchy and flaky for life. I suffer bad from Anxiety and depression. People like to stare at me when I'm out so I tend to hide away at 30 this is not how I envisioned living

Doctor also thinks I'm developing psoriatic athritis in my fingers and wrists too  Wall

I joined here to hopefully talk to people who can understand my pain

Hi Beth Anne  and  Welcome to the club you will find us a very friendly group of fellow sufferers. And this site gives us a platform to share our experiences and support each other through the good periods and the bad periods with the disease, there is so much information here, about the disease and its treatment. If you need any help navigating around the site or a question just shout out and someone will reply

This  is a great place to meet and chat with fellow sufferers, that understand what you are going through

You say your doctor, does that mean your go , or are you seeing a dermatologist ? If you aren't then ask to be referred to see one ... They can give you something to control the psoriasis and Psoriatic arthritis ....you don't have to put up with the disease there are treatments available that will control it for you ......I spent most of my adult life on creams and light treatment ....with very limited success and like you felt very uncomfortable going out with the scales all over ...but since I went onto Fumaderm tablets 6 years ago I have been clear of the disease

These days there are some very effective treatments, but you might have to push for them have a look at this link Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis where you can see all the treatments that are available ....but you need to tell the dermatologist that the disease is ruining your quality of life and is depressing you terribly, they will probably put you on one of the oral treatments and one of them will hopefully work for you ....there are many advances in the drugs for controlling psoriasis

I hope you soon get some relief and I'm sure others here will have advice for you  ....good luck

Hi Beth Anne and welcome.

I was in a similar place but not as covered I think as you. My GP constantly prescribing standard topicals etc not doing much and asked for a referal to a dermatologist. I have been free for about 18 months now, or certainly significantly better.

I was amazed when I started researching how many things are available and apparently effective.

Lots of great info here and loads a decent people who can answer your questions.

Good luck and keep us updated on how you get on.

Hi Beth Anne, nice to meet you!

Sounds high time you get offered the next level of treatments, if you've had uvb then have you already got a dermatologist?

Hope you like it here Smile

Hello Beth Anne  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Yes it's time to talk with your dermatologist about trying one of the oral treatments. See this thread: Oral Treatments For Psoriasis

If you're not yet seeing a dermatologist get your GP to refer you to one especially if you indeed are getting psoriatic arthritis, the sooner you get treatment the better and it can be managed.

You don't need to hide away from us here because we don't care what people look like, and we will never ask you to sweep up after your visit.  Big Grin

If you ever feel depressed come and talk to us, we have a special thread for members only here: [Group Specific]

Also the [Group Specific] will help you get to know some of our members and they are a great bunch, so just dive on in.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Beth Anne , I agree with the others , if you are not seeing a dermatologist then you need to as it definitely looks like you need something completely different , when I first had P and PsA the treatments were not very good but have a look on here now and you will see just how far they have come in the last few years.
Welcome to the club , there are a few sensible inmates on here (like me) but all the rest are barmy especially the bear , just have a look around and ask any questions you want as they will be answered by people we have the same problem so your questions will be answered truthfully.

Hi Beth Anne and welcome.
Once you get beyond a certain amount of coverage no amount of creams are going great to help. I'm afraid it's time to seriously consider systemics. Get to see your dermatologist and lay it on really thickly how this is effecting your life. I've always found taking somebody close to you in to the consultancy tends to make it go better. Have a good look around the site and if you need any help or to have a good scream at somebody just ask.
Oh don't forget the off topic section for some light hearted relief.
