Hello Vincent.

My experience was awful. Felt sick and nauseous all the time, it also made me feel like a zombie and gave me bad mood swings. My personal opinion is it shouldn’t be used for psoriasis today as there are many other treatments available.

But some do ok with it and it's a like or hate treatment by most of our members. Not many love it though.

There are lots of threads about it, if you put it in the search facility Search you will find a few good threads.

*I changed your subject as we have a lot of methotrexate threads and it could get lost in searches.

Regards.

Fred.

What dose are you on Martin.... it's strange that you are not getting on well with methotrexate .... and you stopped Fumaderm for reasons best known to your dermatologist ...

I hope the cold clears soon and that you get some clearance soon ....

I once asked a dermatologist why they still used MTX for Psoriasis. Well she said because it worked so well. But i said, it is a chemotherapy normally used for cancer.
Yes, she said, that is true but the dose we use for Psoriasis is much much lower... therefore we can use it easily,

But now I did some reseach on the doses of MTX in use with several types of cancer, and what do I find .... exactly the same doses...... 10-30 mg daily.

These things do not enhance my confidence in dermatologists or other medics. Confused

You shouldn't take MTX daily- risk of liver damage is huge. The max dose of MTX for p is 30 taken once per week. However, most generics have 25% more active ingredient so 25 should be max dose

Okay, then it was indeed different, e.g.
“Burkitt's tumor Stages I to II: 10 to 25 mg orally once a day for 4 to 8 days”
Is in that view indeed quite more.

I'm not sure why there is an " attack " on the Derm Consultant to move me over to Methotrexate ? I was on DUF since Sept 16 and just couldn't progress towards tabs/ day added to that I had a very adverse reaction around April/ May 2017  ( PS outbreak & severe itching ) added I had to stop DUF on 6 June 2017 ready for a major foot reconstruction operation  on 6. July 2017 - within 2 weeks of stopping DUF all itching and new PS outbreak cleared up - added liver function results came  back to norm - yes I've TT  for over 1  1/2 years .
I have had PS for over 40 years and have trust in my Derm Consultant ......so please don't be negative regarding her methods - I have trust in her and I value your positive comments & support on this site

Kind regards
Vincent
