Hi All, I hope your are all well and having a fantastic day.

I was googling my plaques off looking for info about acitretin when I came across this place and thought I should dip my toes in the water, so I guess I should do a brief bio;

I live in Tasmania, that tiny triangular island at the bottom of the Australian mainland and I have had plaque psoriasis for about 20 years.  In that time I have ended up trying most treatments "snake oil" and otherwise. After a massive flare up while on methotrexate over the past 10-12 months, I returned to my dermatologist who listened to my plea and suggested we try acitretin along with returning to UVB treatment and continuing with topicals.  So far so good apart from spending days 2 and 3 shedding skin like a demented snake,  I have now reached day 6 and I'm seeing some positive results.

Anyway enough about me..... what treatments have everyone else seen rapid results from?

Hello Raxyl  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

The only thing that has ever worked for me has been the Bio's. Stelara worked fastest on the psoriasis and Cosentyx worked fastest on the psoriatic arthritis. But I've yet to find anything that keeps me clear of both to a satisfactory level.

We have a few members using it and there are many posts about it, if you put it in the Search (available to members only) you may find something of interest.

Good luck with your journey, and don't hesitate to start a thread in Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis if you wish. It's a good way of keeping track of your progress and your input could help others.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Raxyl a big  Welcome from England ...Tasmania is a great place I had friends there a few years ago , and often see wildlife programmes about your island

I'm glad you have dipped your toes in over here, you will find us a friendly group of sufferers always willing to share experiences, and I'm sure it won't be long before our acetretin users find you and tell of their experiences ...
I have been through many treatments including Methotrexate but have found Fumaderm ( which isn't available to you ) the best I've ever had ...it's kept me clear for six years now ( touch wood) and hope it works for another six

I will add this to the newsletter that goes out at the end of the month ...as not all members log in regularly but will see a link to your post there  Thumb

Thanks for the welcome Fred, I look forward to browsing the halls of experience and knowledge here. Apparently, in Australia, we have had to have tried several other government listed treatments including Methotrexate and acitretin before we can access bio's which is why my Dermatologist recommended acitretin.

Cheers,
Raxyl (aka Craig)

Yes it's the same in most countries.

I wasn't suggesting you go for a Bio just to be clear, I was replying to your question "what treatments have everyone else seen rapid results from?"

Depending on what is available under your health system we do have a thread with the mostly used Oral treatments that may be of interest:

Thanks Jiml, I'll be sure to sign up for the newsletter. Tassie isn't a bad little spot. Good food, good wine and good scenery. Matches my interests in cooking, photography and little British sports cars perfectly.

Cheers,

No problem Fred, I got your intent, only I mentioned the Bio's because my Dermatologist mentioned them specifically and said I would have to try the acitretin first.
