Hi,

I thought i would do a quick introduction before i jump in with questions :-)

I am 35 and have been suffering with serious psoriasis for about 18 months.
I havent really had any issues in the past with this, only sometimes on my face and scalp if i was run down or stressed.  After a period of high stress a while back, i got it really bad all over my body, and i mean ALL OVER!

My legs got it the worst, it was like burns on my legs.  I ended up going A&E as my feet and ankles had swollen up so bad i couldnt put shoes on.

I was first put on Ciclosporin and now i am on Methotrexate.  Ciclosporin worked pretty well. I would say about 90% clear up.  Now i am on Methotrexate and i am not doing so well.

So thought i should join a forum like this one where i can find out tips and tricks to living with my skin condition.

Thanks
Jimish

Hi Jimish,

Welcome to Psoriasisclub.
You have landed in a nice community of sufferers, who one by one have experience with this nasty disease. There is enough for you to learn, and from our side we like to learn from you how you will be doing on the diverse treatments there are.

So to read Psoriasis struck you by surprise and very heavy too. That is very unfortunate for you. But anyway you are in a position in time where more and more treatments are available.
You have already started the systemics, the bad ones (to my and many others opinions), but that is the protocol of treatment in the UK.

Make yourself comfortable at psoriasisclub. More will get in touch with you and wish you welcome.
It is possible, as there are British among them, that they seem not totally sane. That will become clear when you visit the off topic section and have a drink at the bar. We are not only talking about our disease but we also try to have some fun together.
Me... I’m Dutch, so I am the sane one in this lot. Big Grin

Hope to read more from you and wish you a pleasant time over here.

Hi Jimish  Welcome to the club, you have found a friendly group of fellow sufferers, you will find we are all happy to share our experience of the various drugs that are available and some are pleased to record how they manage the disease with diet see Natural Treatments For Psoriasis although most favour prescribed treatments see Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis myself I’m on Fumaderm tablets that have kept me clear for over 6 years it’s a drug that has given me my life back after suffering most of my adult life with the use of steroids and hiding away where possible

I think it’s probably time to contact the dermatologist and suggest a change of treatment, you will find one that works for you and should be able to get better relief

Have a good look around and shout if you have any questions we are all happy to help

A great wasy to stay in touch with the latest treatments and see any threads you might wish to join in or learn from is to subscribe to our free monthly newsletter you can do that by clicking Groups and then click on join group

Hello Jimish and Welcome from me. I too began with ciclosporine and then methotrexate. The ciclosporine almost cleared it completely. I have tried enbrel, Humira and fumerdem before ending up on Stelera. This is the one that is working best for me with so far no side effects.
Hope you find something that works for you.

Caroline is deluded by the way......she is definately not sane. That would be me.....

Hello Jimish  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

18 Months may be a short time for your dermatologist to move you onto a Bio. It may be worth you asking about Fumaderm or Skilarence. You can find out more about them here: Oral Treatments For Psoriasis

It can and does take time to find what will work for each person, but it can be managed.

As for tips: The top 5 I would give are.

#1 Try to keep a positive attitude.

#2 Talk with your family and friends about it.

#3 Keep sharing your good and bad moments with our members.

#4 Keep pushing till you get a dermatologist you are happy with.

#5 And most of. Do not go looking for a cure, there isn't one and you will loose a lot of money on scams found on the internet or even in the press like has been seen recently.

Now let me just confirm that Caroline is not Sane, she may be sensible on the odd rare occasion but no where near as sensible as me.  Big Grin

Regards.

Fred.
