To save confusion with old Introduction threads getting bumped back to the top I will be closing all threads over 3 months old.

We sometimes get people reposting in old threads after an absence, this causes confusion as others see the thread at the top and respond even though they may have already welcomed before.

It's also unfair on our new members if others bump up old threads in this section as it pushes theirs down and they could get missed. I'm sure you will all agree that a new members post in Introductions should take priority.

All members are welcome to start new threads in any of the other boards, even a new Intro after a long absence if they wish but it doesn't help our new members get found when we get old threads bumped to the top.

So from now on at the beginning of each month I will close all threads in Introductions that are more than three months old, that should give others time to respond to new threads.

Feedback welcome.

I think it's a good idea as long as you let the member know and the reason behind it.
By maybe posting a note at the end saying

" This's thread is closed as it is over 3 months since it was started...feel free to start a new thread about your treatment/ success here Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis"  or something similar ....as some members don't return often and might think they are unwelcome if they see their thread closed without explanation.

Not easy Jim. We have over 500 threads, it would take me a long time to make an edit to every one of them.  Confused

If you look at threads over 3 months old they have either seen the answers or not been back since posting.

The way I am closing the threads is simply a matter of calling them up by creation time and ticking the boxes, then I do a bulk close of the ticked threads.

I'll have another look, but I don't see an easy way off the top of my head.

Ok it's taken me a while, but I think I have found a compromise.

If you go and find a locked thread you will see the result. An example: Spare 15 Minutes

It does mean it shows on all closed/locked threads and in all posts on a closed thread. Hence the wording.

See what you think ?

I was going to say yes, but looking at locked threads with lots of posts I think it looks messy.... better to just close them as you intended. Thumb

Ok try now.

All closed threads will have nothing, but closed threads in intro's will have the message in the last post (if I got it right}

Example: Guess I should go first.
