Greetings,

I have my 2nd weekly starter dose for Cosentyx this evening; however, I've been struggling with a cough and fever for about six days. Curious if I should take the treatment or skip the dose?

oops

That is a difficult question Kevinito.. you can’t ask from us that we go sit on the chair of the doctor.
So the best advice is to contact the doctor and ask him/her what to do.

Personally, if it was me..... I would first try to recover from my flu/influenza/fever.

Usually it is best to miss a week with a bio if you have a fever, but as this is the loading dose I think you should ask your dermatologist the best way to go.

Personally I would ride out the fever and carry on with the shots as I would want the loading dose in me. Not much bad will happen and I have never had problems made any worse with a fever on well over 10 years of Bio use, but that is just my opinion.

My thoughts are the same as Fred's.  I would touch base with your Dermatologist just to be sure though.

Hi Kevinito
Welcome to the forum, over the years I've tried most of the ointments and creams, also enbrel and humira. I was advised by my consultant if ever I felt unwell with a heavy cold/flu or sore throat, I should stop the next dose and contact my doctor. This was only with the biologics but I would bear this in mind.
The only thing that worked for me over the years was light treatment for my psoriasis and was told after my last course of treatment that I was at the limit and wouldn't be able to have anymore.
The consultant told me there was a new biologic called Taltz out and had high success for her psoriasis patients. I can only say I was sceptical as the enbrel and humira had not worked for my psoriasis.
For me the Taltz has been like a magic wand, the psoriasis has cleared completely.
I may add that I've suffered with psoriatic arthritis since the 1990s and didn't think anything would work for the psoriasis.
As I mentioned earlier I would just be careful with a dose if your feeling unwell ,although that was only what I have been advised .
I hope you find success with the cosentyx treatment and wish you good health in the future.

Hello all,

Fortunately, I am continuing treatment and it is getting considerably better for just finishing the starter dose. The shots aren't too bad, but I recall Humira being considerably painful (especially in the stomach). What will I do with my hands when I am not itching so much? Ha!
