Good to know that Stelara is still working for you and hope it continues for many more years

I don't know about the pigmentation issue if it's to do with Stelara. I have pigmentation (white patches ) dotted around my body which show up more in summer as they won't tan . For me it's in my legs and arms and I have put it down to years of using  steroid  creams
Or possibly the disease itself
Is it a big problem on your face ? Or small spots

Hi

Thanks Fred.

Dave, good they have altered you to 10 weeks to keep it under control. My derm said she likes to see a bit of P as it means they are not over treating.

Jim, my derm has described it as extensive, I have some normal skin which makes up about a 2cm edge around my face from the ears inwards. My forehead has a shape of pigment which looks like rugged mountains! It is brown in colour with some redness mixed in all over. I should try and learn how to put a photo on here.

I had a brief look at chemical peels but would have to take time off of work and not sure how effective this would be.  On the other hand I try to live with it as it only becomes a bigger problem when on holidays, ie having to wear makeup on the beach etc! I will speak with my derm again and hopefully she can point me in the right direction. I know I will have to go private to some kind of clinic but not sure where to start, what is available, who to see, what qualifications , checks they should have, costs ? Etc.

I don’t know if the stelera is contributing to the pigmentation or not. When I ended up in hospital 90% coverage of P , alot of steroids were used, also on my face. Psoriasis inflammation has been ruled out as a long time has passed as has allergies.

Hopefully she will have a magic wand  Confused

I wouldn't have thought "chemical peels" would help, and if they did it would still come back. Another thing to think of is injury to the skin could make the psoriasis worse. Just my own thoughts, I have no knowledge of chemical peels.

Is there anything here that could help: Skin Camouflage

Im sorry I didn't realise it was so widespread on you it must be a worry  Confused there are things you can do I'm told to help like staying out of the sun, or using a strong sun block, your dermatologist may try you on  hydroquinone creams, which are often used to lighten dark skin patches

I hope she has a magic wand as well and will keep my fingers crossed for you
If you want to post pictures here you can find out how here [Group Specific] or pm me and I'll talk you through it

Good to read of your ongoing success, Angie. I think that having a couple of resident spots is part of the deal with any treatment. There is quite a bit on postinflammatory hyperpigmentation and its management on line. Treatment seems to take a while.

Cheers

Hi All

Stelera working well, usual bits on elbows, hips etc but still doing its job well.

Gave up trying to sort pigmentation and sticking with the heavier foundation.

I am now at 6 monthly appointments with my derm. Well should be normally but couldn’t get an appointment this time and have moved to 7 months. Due back in April.  Not a problem if everything going well. Have more of a problem getting my bloods printed out from my GP surgery as practice manager off and no-one else able to login to Hospital records.  Huh

Hope you are all well and will update if any changes or just keep  boring you all with the same news  Sleep

Hi Angie  Thumb Great to hear the Stelara is still working well for you  Thumb it's good to read when a treatment still works, so pleased you are coming back with nothing going wrong ...it's never boring and helps others knowing that the treatment can work long term

As far as the pigmentation it's difficult to get results getting colour back  ..so if you've found a foundation makeup to cover it at least you can be comfortable going out and have it covered . I have the same problem but happily just on my legs and it only shows in summer when I start tanning

Good to know it's still going in the right direction Angie. And I'm with Jim, it's not boring. It's actually encouraging and I wish a few more people would come back to update as the information could help others, and that is why we are here.

I'm good thank you for asking, and hope all is well for you and yours.

Look forward to your next boring update Big Grin

Hi All

Hope you are all well. It’s now 5 years on Stelera and still going well. As previous still left with few small patches usual places but very pleased with it.

Had covid back in September, no real issues, had stuffy nose and lost sense of smell. Had no idea how it would effect me being on Stelera. Glad to say I was fine.

Had a catch up with derm dept recently as hadn’t been for a while, not my usual derm and ended up going back in for a mole removal. Awaiting results but sure it’s fine as over 3 weeks ago and no news is good news  Wink .

All going well with P and long may it continue.
