Stupid question: don't you have a portion to pay for the medication?
Are all appointments like this in the hospital?

Brilliant outcome Caroline . I'm sure they would see me if they were unhappy with my blood results Thumb

With a steady use of DMF it is unlikely that your blood results will decay.

The receptionist said they still aren't doing routine appointments. But would speak to the dermatologist
and today a supply of skilarence was delivered by courier I now have enough tablets for the next four months and assume they will get in touch when they resume appointments

Nice and easy.  Thumb

I think Jim may have missed your question KatT. I don't know about the appointments, but my understanding is that they pay a set amount for a prescription no matter how much the medication costs. I think they can also buy an annual ticket to except them from charges.

But Jim may spot this now.  Whistle

Yep Sorry I missed it KatT I must have been daydreaming

Fred is right our prescription costs are the same whatever the drug is
And costs at present are
Quote:
A Prepayment Prescription Certificate (PPC) lets you get as many prescriptions as you need for a set price.

If you regularly have to pay prescription charges, a PPC could save you money.

The prescription charge in England is £9.15 per item.

A PPC costs:£29.65 for 3 months
£105.90 for 12 months
If you regularly pay prescription charges, a PPC could save you money.

However there are exempt groups who pay nothing and others like me that get them free as I'm over 65

As far as appointments by telephone this is not usual you usually get an appointment every six months and have to attend the hospital to be seen

But however the covid virus has had the effect of dragging them into the 21st century and it seems as if they are using technology if the matter isn't urgent and generally things are going well

They get my blood results monthly and would see if there was cause for concern and ask to see me if deemed necessary

In the post today arrived my next appointment For January 2021 which will be a telephone consultation again  Thumb

Thanks Jim!

The costs are pretty good  Big Grin

Now just wondering if you mean clinic by hospital ....

I.e.

What you call chemist we say pharmacy or drug store

Our GPs, dermatologist, etc work from clinics.  Hospitals are for operations, emergencies, specific tests such as MRI, certain treatments, etc

Yeah, but I know more of them..... Hihihi

What you call clinic or hospital we call ziekenhuis or hospitaal
What you call chemist or pharmacy we call apotheek
What you call drug store, we call a coffee shop, which does not sell coffee but weed. Or we can compare this to a “drogist”, where they sell the simple free medications and also soaps, shampoos and so on.

For us everything is concentrated in the Hospitaal, except for the GP’s, they often work in local health centres (gezondheidscentra)
Lately there are popping up some kinda clinics who specialise in a certain direction, e.g. an eye-clinic, or right on the opposite side claim to work more in teamwork with a variety in specializations in order to address complexer problems. My latest experience in this direction tells me that it is largely a commercial teaser.

Yes all drugs are subsidised by the government and all dermatology clinics are held at hospitals our GPs operate from surgeries in the community and they refer patients to hospital if they find a problem .
But once you're on the hospital radar they continue with your care, we don't have separate clinics for NHS dermatology so it's usually a visit to a hospital to be seen
