Yayyy! Just talked to my GP. He agrees. Stop the use of the Duobrii immediately! He was very sympathetic about my having 2 flashbacks (I suffer from PTSD) brought on by the discussion I had with the Derm. He suggested I refer to my psychiatrist, if flashbacks continue. Anyways, that is a whole other story. The moment I have been waiting for has come! I get to work with my Derm on a treatment that we both agree upon....I hope.  I hate to sound like a wussy but I am in tears (of joy) as I am typing this.  3 days of extreme stress has come to an end. Now we just have to deal with the feeling of aniticipation. Not a bad thing at all.

Will let you know what is going on as things progress.

Cheers,

Wintrman

That's good new Wintrman not a wussy at all it's good that you have managed to push, so often we see people give up and end up not getting treated properly.

Will this be with the dermatologist you first mentioned or the new one 2.5 hours away ?

I will still be dealing with the Derm that prescribed me the Duobrii. Let's see where this goes. Perhaps her disposition will change now that she understands my GP is on MY side and will stand up for me.

Good luck, I think it's the way to go. Thumb

What is EMDR??

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

It is a Basically very simple method/therapy for people who are having trouble with shocking experiences in their past. EMDR has been described more than 25 years ago by the American psychologist Francine Shapiro. In the years after the procedure has been developed into a fully working and effective therapeutic method.
It concerns connecting different memories into the place of the problem memories, thus changing associations who normally lead to the problem memories.
It is often being used with soldiers who have experienced very traumatic situations.
I have heard, from close by, that they achieve very good results with this therapy.

Perhaps you should do some reseach Big Grin , thanks for passing me your other research Big Grin Wave Thumb

You are welcome, as for the research goes. As for the other, I will do my reading up on it. I did something like that years ago. However all it did was push down the flashbacks and they came back with such ferocity. I spent 6 weeks in a hospital, until they figured out some new meds for me... and a little hypno therapy. Not a good experience for me.

Clap   Excellent news!!!  I hope you hear from the dermatologist very soon to start a new treatment, oral or biologic!

No need to drive 2.5 hours! Not bad in the summer but most likely not pleasant during the winter!!!  Especially in Winnipeg!!!  I was traumatized the first time the sent me there for work  Scare  Brrrrrrrrrrrr!

Really hope that you will stop having flashbacks  Confused  Finding the right medication and dosage for PTSD, anxiety, depression, etc can be difficult.  Glad you found something that works!

Hi everyone. Talked to my derm today. Seems she is an understudy and can't prescribe methyltrexate. So I am being referred to the one and only derm in the city. The one who, after having my GP refer me twice already, still hasn't responded. So here is hoping that he responds this time. If not, then I am off to see a derm in Winnipeg, like it or not.

This derm intern, though just wouldn't stop hounding me about this duobrii and how great it is and how I should use it in the interim until I saw a real derm and got set up with methyltrexate. I told her 3 more times, in no uncertain terms it was a hard no.  It wasn't until I started talking about the referral and interrupting another "yes, but" moment  did she understand and stop harassing me about using duobrii. We ended with the agreement that she would make the referral and set me up with phototherapy. Not that phototherapy is any screaming hell of a help either. 5 months straight, every day except weekends, I was in there and it did sooo little for me. So what is the purpose of that? I dunno. I am questioning myself about the logic behind it.

Anyways...cheers!

Wintrman
