Hello all
I have suffered with psoriasis for 22 years now and after trying all steroid treatment, UV treatment, tar treatment and Methotrexate I have now been given Fumaderm to try.  I am on the initial pack and concerned about the side effects it might cause. I have a friend who has been on it for 2 years and doesn't have any psoriasis now, and she looks fab for it, but just wanted to get other opinions.Smile
thanks

Oooohhh Cheryl first off a big Welcome to the forum. You are at the right place for positive talk about Fumaderm there are several of us on Fumaderm now and others on other forms of DMF look at my intro Introduction Jiml I have been on it now for nearly 3 years ( I had to think because I've been saying 2 years since I joined here a year ago.)
If it works Cheryl and you can tolerate it it will make your self confidence grow and give you your life back
Side effects for me weren't pleasant but better than methotrexate which I hated....

You can expect some stomach cramps... To avoid them flush your tablets down with a meal and plenty of fluid
The other thing is flushes you will probably get them they start at your head and work down your body.... Not unpleasant but can look a bit silly when you are out and glowing red.
The side effects will get less as your body gets used to Fumaderm

The side effects are far better than psoriasis I will argue with anyone who try's to get me off them
Keep coming back and giving us updates it is early for you yet
I hope it works out
Jim

Hello Cheryl Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I see you have met Jim, he is a regular member and using Fumaderm. Caroline and Bill are often here and use a type so I'm sure you will get some answers. If you click the "Search" button (only available to members) you will find a lot of Fumaderm posts.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Cheryl,
Welcome aboard! I don't have any experience with Fumaderm but others here do. It's a very supportive forum.

Hello Cheryl!!

WELCOME!!!

A lot of people on this forum have in fact recommended for me to start a course of fumaderm so please keep us updated ... I would love to hear how it goes for you as it is something I am definitely considering after all the great reviews and recommendations of it. Especially from here, and the friendliness on this forum has really made me consider some of their suggestions seriously as everyone seems genuinely willing to give good and helpful advice and support so I ams rue you will feel very comfortable here!

Good luck with the fumaderm! And looking forward for news on how it goes!!

Hi Cheryl,

Provided you are monitored and treated according to the guidelines it is a safe and effective treatment. I am unaware of any cases of morbidity when it has been used accordingly. Side effects aren't much fun, though they will subside greatly if you stick at it. I always take my drug mid way through a big meal; bulk it up with plenty of salad or veges if you can.

Cheers and good luck,

Bill

Hi Cheryl and welcome! Lots of info to be found here and also just general chatting in the off topic forum. We all pretty much share our experiences with each other and you'll find lots of support here.

Hi Cheryl,

Oh… Fumaderm !!! (DMF)
That sounds great ! You have a 70% chance of getting your psoriasis under control.

Oh, by the way, Welcome on our forum.
I really am interested on how you will do on Fumaderm, and I guess Jim will also.

Have fun.

Wow, thanks everyone for the great welcome and messages! It has been great to have so much support from everyone. For years I thought I was the only one who had psoriasis and even though I knew I wasn't, it felt like it, and felt like no one understood.....but not anymore! thanks

No thank you for coming here and letting us hear of your experiences. I will take a great interest in your journey with Fumaderm. I hope you tolerate it well if you have any problems and need advice there are a few of us who can guide you through and hopefully minimise the side effects. Usually the people that give up do so because of the side effects, not because of the efficacy of the drug
