Nice site and I really approve of the concept. Impressive amount of Smile available.
Interestingly (well to me anyway) I have had skin problems for over 40 years (I'm 58) and have been treated for excema all this time. Until my first (yes) visit to a consultant earlier this year who said it was psoriasis. TBH I thought I had both over the years but no GP can be bothered to think about anything beyond the myriad of creams and lotions to choose from. I only found out I had been using a steroid cream after 30 years. No-one had ever thought to mention it.
Having just read about Dovobet on your site-I can say the consultant who prescribed it for me never mentioned anything about how it is used.
Anyway, I am very fortunate that for most of this time it has been confined mainly to my feet, with my hands being affected for the last few years making me go back for lots of useless GP appointments. They all wanna 'cure' ya. Eventually they gave me the referral I asked for. Dovobet works so far.
I work for a disability charity and would be happy to contribute to the site, not likely to be on too regularly though, but keep up the good work.

Well I can help u thru a great technique to help with ur palmoplanter/PPP psoriasis mabe even to remission. It works for me every time. I have he same hands and feet and plaque since a child and also recently developed psoriatic P.

My hand and feet P. Is seasonal. It comes every winter. So I am on top of it and keep it from becoming severe and painful.

I am so glad u have come to the Psoriasis Club. Everyone is very welcoming , kind , helpful and best of all supportive. I'm new too just stated a couple months now.

I am sorry that UR were mis diagnosed for so long. Drs need to take a skin biopsy, because so,many skin diseases do tend to look similar during different stages . Hope UR hands are doing well and that u have good control with treatment and meds for UR P.

Hello Kip Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

That's a common problem with Dovobet Ointment you get prescribed it and they just keep giving you repeat prescriptions, sometimes I think we have to do their job for them. Wall

Quote:
Quote from the Dovobet information:

Dovobet ointment should be applied to affected areas once daily. The recommended treatment period is 4 weeks. If it is necessary to continue or restart treatment after this period, treatment should be continued after medical review and under regular medical supervision.

Thank you for the kind words about Psoriasis Club. When you say "contribute" to Psoriasis Club, if you mean donate then I'm sorry but we don't accept donations, if you mean by being here, you don't have to be a regular user just be here when you want. All we ask is for people to try and spend a little time to say hello to the newbies that post, or maybe update their own threads, throw in some answers if they can, oh and leave cake in the lounge. Smile

Regards.

Fred.

Hello Kip, P. Is frustrating....so an docs.... Ya gota be aggressive. I always being a list. And try not to get side tracked.

I use occlusion . Wrap p area after application of meds or moisturizer with suran wrap or glad self stick wrap. It helps the meds absorb deeply in the skin layers instead of wipping off the skin. The wrap holds the meds in place long enough to absorb thru the derm layers of the skin to block off the tiny capillary vessels that feeds the psoriasis skin layers. Makes sence? It has put my p. In remission for 3 years .

Also UR dr should inform u of the many treatments for P. Perhaps u could find a psoriasis specialist.

I Went to a well known derm about 5 years ago. for P. It was interested in trying excimer laser. Well as it turned out he signed me up for laser treatments which ins covers. i recommend it for plaque p. But what cracked me up was that he wanted to sell me all types of facial treatments to take the wrinkles out and add fillers to my lips under eyes and wanted to sell me a line of facial cleansers and treatments worth thousands. I refused to be callywagged into lookin younger. Its all derms r interested in to make more money...All I wanted was p. Treatment.
Never went back to him again.

This was a P. Specialist ????? Next thing ya know they will be wanting to take fat out of my caboose and fill in my cheeks..
I have enough issues thanku. I am not about to sign up for any more issues than I already have .

I left the dr office in a daze. How did a Psoriasis appt turn into a whole recommendation for thousands of dollars in facial treatments guaranteed to takes years off UR face to make u look younger?

So YEAH! Drs are salesmen too.. Especially when it comes to the everybody has to Looking younger issue. I'm happy with the way I am and I told him that but he wasn't convinced and called in his assist to explain in detail how these laser procedures will take yrs off UR face in only 29 treatments. UGG!

Movin on ...I found another P. Specialist . Got the meds I needed and excimer laser for P.

Many thanks for the replies here. I meant contribute as add my thoughts or comments-so all is good, but thanks for clarifying.
As I write I seem to be experiencing a flare-up for the first time in months. Last script I got ointment instead of gel (yes-I take what I get given!). I don't know if it is coincidence or not. My feet are not too bad but hands are busy destroying themselves and the itches are back.
I wonder if it is triggered by diet as well as seasonal. It can be worse in winter but also can be bad in summer-its now Autumn -so no reckoning there.
The worse bit is the thousand and one paper-cuts which bleed and cause pain to the point of not wanting to handle even the smallest object. I have not got that just yet but this usually follows the current phase.
The good news is things are fine otherwise and glad I was not born in the age of leper colonies!!!
thanks
