Following on from my request to Tanlou about starting a new thread about going onto Humira, she has asked me to get the thread going for her as she's not sure how to start a new one.

So this thread will be about Tanlou's experience of using Humira for the first time, she will update it as she goes.

Over to you Tanlou, and thank you for sharing. Thumb

Thanks FRED for the thread - well first thing first - the medicine HUMIRA was delivered yesterday and is now sat in the fridge - The nurse called today to say she is coming Thursday at 1pm. I have to be shown how to self administer the injections - and I have to have 2 when she arrives. The nurse will do the first one and im meant to do the second one to show I can self admin - good job im not afraid of needles LOL. Did a bit of research on the injections - cant believe each one costs nearly £400 - thank the lord im not paying for it - I would need to sell my house!!!!!!

You're very welcome, and thank you for sharing.

Don't be too nervous about it, it's painless and once you get used to it very simple to do yourself. I put a few tips here Biological Treatments For Psoriasis on using the bio's that may help.

They will make sure you are happy so just chill out relax and come back and tell everyone here how easy it was.

Oh and yes the Bio treatments are very expensive, some don't like the high cost but for me I think if it's available to you under your health system then take it. Bio treatments have given me my life back, and I think you will say the same.

Tip: I don't know if they suggested it, but I have found taking it out of the fridge 10 minutes before using takes a little bit of the very very slight sting away. And it is a very slight sting, nothing like a wasp.

I'm looking forward to your updates, and appreciate you sharing as I'm sure others do.

Well done. Thumb

Fred the nurse has said take it out of the fridge 1/2 hour before she is due - so I will LOL. I am not too worried about starting HUMIRA - im just hoping I see some results. I have got many more patches appearing all over - but the ones on my hands are the worse - they keep cracking and bleeding - but I can cope with it - I must admit I look a tiny bit like the late Michael Jackson - always wearing one glove LOL never mind xxxxxx

Yes 1/2 hour is good, though once you get used to it it's no big deal. I often forget to take mine out and use it straight from the fridge, just don't leave it out more than 1 hour.

I'm sure you will be surprised by the results, the Bio treatments can work very quick. Thumb

I feel nervous for you, as it reminds me of my first time. But it will be fine. Smile
