I tried to tell the receptionist that I couldnt have a break in my treatment and her reply was " but we dont have any appointments before then". I felt rather frustrated but couldnt get her to understand! It was like pulling teeth!!

I will await my appointment and see what the consultant says as he was the one who wanted to see me in four weeks and yet he had no appointments.

Thanks for the concern though.

Oh dear I'm so sorry

Cheryl write a letter to the head consultant it is very important not to stop your treatment the way you are they cannot monitor you like that.
It's ridiculous that they can't send a prescription even if it is the initial ones then it will still be in your system
If you don't mind me saying someone at your hospital needs a kick up the backside.

They shouldn't have started you on them to mess you about.
If you wait for your appointment the drug will be out of your system and you will have to start afresh
I'm sorry I'm not moaning at you it's your hospital at great fault, you are not to know

What about your GP explain to him how important it is not to have a break in this treatment

I rang the hospital today to see if I could speak to someone to change the appointment today and was met with an answering machine advising me that the person is not in the office until tomorrow and so I await a call back then.

I knew that I shouldn't be waiting for the next batch of medication, but the snotty receptionist wouldn't budge. When I saw the consultant he said he needed to see me in 4 weeks time to monitor how I was doing. When my appointment came through it was for 7 weeks and not the 4 weeks he requested. I rang straight away to change it but was told there is nothing we can do as we have no appointments in 4 weeks.

I work for the NHS and know that prescribed medication needs to be continued otherwise you have to start again, and its not as if my own doctor can prescribe it - the only person allowed is the consultant at the hospital!! It is so frustrating that you cant get through to someone who can do what needs to be done.

I will keep you posted tomorrow. Lets hope I get somewhere.

Thanks guys Confused

Just a suggestion
When you ring in the morning ask to speak not to the receptionist but to the specialists secretary they are more friendly than the receptionists and may understand your predicament more
Get the name of the person who says there's nothing they can do and tell, them you will,be reporting them. Tell, them you don't need to bring the appointment forward, you can have a blood test at your doctors it's just a 3ml purple tube and a 6 ml yellow tube that will, tell, them if it's ok but you do need the tablets I know only the hospital can prescribe them..... But there must be more than one consultant or registrar that can prescribe.
If they say no report them for negligence...

Progress!
The dermatology consultant rang me today to apologise that my appointment hadn't been sorted, he stated he was sending me a prescription in the post and he would see me at the end of the month to review how things were going for me. I feel like the light at the end is near!
Will post more once I have started the furmederm tablets properly.
thanks
