I have had psoriasis for approx 15 years .I feel onset was either colouring my hair henna red or, treatment for fungal toe infection. I had a massive flair up after using dovabet, light treatment helped greatly.I have it under control at the moment using salysalic cream on my scalp and coconut oil on my patches (elbows and knees) I am now finding my hair is going grey!!!! (It's my age57)so I am thinking about colouring it has anyone any hint s or tips for me please.

Hello Annette  Welcome to Psoriasis Club

Sorry I can't help with the hair dye as I hardly have any myself, but just wanted to say hello.

It could be worth you starting a new thread in Psoriasis And Psoriatic Arthritis Topics asking about hair dye and psoriasis.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Annette and a big welcome to the forum.... I would love to be able to advise you on dying your hair but unfortunately I'm like Fred and don't have enogh to dye. But I'm sure there has been mention if hair dying before I will take a look and see what I can find ...
I'm glad you have found your way here and hope you find the experience worthwhile.

Hello Annette, .

Welcome to the forum.
I never dye my hair, so can't help you, but perhaps Kat can, she probably will pop up in short time tonight.

A friend of mine regularly dyes hers, but she has no psoriasis, so that will not deliver ideas also.

Anyway have fun over here with us.

Caroline.

Don't only wait Annette Smile, just look around and mingle in other discussions. We really like that.

I've been having a look round and found some advice that may be useful

If your scalp is highly inflamed when you want to color your hair, it’s probably a good idea to wait until your psoriasis calms down first.

The primary chemical in most dark hair dyes is paraphenylenediamine, or PPD, a substance that can be irritating to some psoriasis sufferers. Hair lighteners contain peroxide and bleaches, which can also cause irritation,

A PPD-free alternative to traditional hair dye is henna, a colorant that’s plant-based and turns hair red or reddish-brown. This may cause less irritation than regular dye. However, be sure to read the label closely before using any product — many products marketed as henna are actually “black henna,” which still contains PPD to produce a darkening effect. “There is a natural henna, which is more of a red color,”
Also test a small patch on your arm or scalp where it won't be too obvious and leave a couple of days if you get no reaction it should be safe to go ahead
