I started Humira on October 9. Ever since then I have been having some discomfort in my chest and a cough. I am suppose to take another shot on Thursday October 30. I am going to hold off till I talk to my dermatologist. Her office is closed on Thursday so I am going to call her Friday.

Has anyone on here that is on or have taken Humira have any side effects?

Sorry Sarah I've never tried the biologics so can't really help..... It sounds like something that needs checking out, likely a chest infection that can be cleared with antibiotics
Good luck and I hope you get some answers

Hello Sarah good to see you again. Smile

Yes I would hold of your next shot just to be sure. It may not be to much to worry about but one should always report a cough when using the bio's as they can be one of the side effects. Myself I never do as it usually is just a virus going around and passes, however if I've had it longer than a week then yes I would report it.

It's probably like Jim said a chest infection that can be cured with antibiotics, but for the moment I would advise missing out on your next shot of Humira. You can always just start again once you get it cleared up.

If you also have a fever like the Flu with the cough and feel very tired all the time, then it would be a good idea to tell your dermatologist about that too, these are common side effects and although not normally serious, you should report it.

I did have a reaction to Humira and ended up in hospital for a week looking like a lobster, I didn't have a cough but was totally drained of all my energy. I switched to Enbrel after that, but you've already tried that so see what your dermatologist has to say but it may be worth mentioning Stelara (ustekinumab) as people are getting fantastic results and very little problems.

Good luck and please keep us updated.

Smile

Hi KY,

I think you are acting carefully and sensibly. I stop my drug with any illness and wont resume taking it until the symptoms have gone. Taking the drug when I had a cold made the cold markedly worse, so I wont make this mistake again. Of course, I dont know how fast the psoriasis rebounds when you go off Humira. DMF is good in this respect.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Sarah I was wondering if you were still on Humira, and if so has it worked for you?
I hope you are well

Humira was one of the drugs that we discussed when I came off MTX but I am on Stelara now ,in fact I did my own 90mg injection last night, I have had great results with little or no side effects just a bit of fatigue for a couple of days after taking it though I have held off a few days as like you I had a cold but feeling great now.

Hi Jim. I am still on Humira for now. It has help my skin, but I don't think it is working that well on my joints. My dermatologist may put me back on Enbrel next appointment.

If the joints are suffering it will be a good move, Glenda on here is on Enbrel, she says it's greatly improved her joints but the dose she's on is taking a long while to work on the skin.
I hope you get it and it gives you release , nice to see you Thumb

Hi Jiml. Yes I am on Cosentyx. 300 mg. Been on it 10 weeks now. After the 5 starter doses my skin was clear. And still is. I think it is starting to help with my joints. So far Cosentyx is working good.
