I can't help, but I will move this to Prescribed treatments as you may get better answers. I have also changed your heading.

Fred.

Yes I think you should eat. Try to eat food that digests normally and has fibers, like bread, fruit (without the shells), etc.

The diet belong to DMF, the way I take it (not Fumaderm), says the following.
Avoid: All shells of fruit, so also wine, sherry, vermouth, etc and avoid machinally made fruit juice, shells of tomatoes, paprika's en peppers and all ready to go products where this can be in it, like soup from tins or packs, bouillon blocks, paté, sauces etc. Avoid cloves, curry, cinnamon, hake, mustard, anise, peanuts, peanut butter/sauce, lettuce oil and all burnt nuts as they are boiled in arachid oil.

Admitted: Garlic, parsly, onions, garden herbs, saffron, fruit vinigar, olive oil, mais-, soja-, sunflower- and linseed oil. pickles without pepper, cocktail pickles, coconuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds. Alcoholic drinks like beer, gin, whiskey and rum are ok, how strange this may seem. All other things are okay, so even a pressed orange or peeled apple are fine.

sofar things on the diet.

The protocol for psorinovo, my kind of DMF, says:

When you suffer from diarrhea, hold the medication for a few days until the diarrhea has gone/diminished, then continue with the dose with which you had no diarrhea. After that increase the dose very carefully (read slowly), with larger intervals in increasing (of course the whole build up than will go slower, but better that and a later chance on succes, than no success at all).
When clear results start to become visible don't increase the dose. Only continue increasing again if the improvement of the skin does not continue.

So basically Debbie, slow down. Take more time.

Hope this will help you.

Hi Debbie sorry I wasn't here earlier to see your post. But I see Caroline has given you some first class advice about what you should and should not eat with the tablets.
Her advice to slow the treatment down is correct in fact the Fumaderm leaflet suggests that it is better to reduce the treatment and build up slower
Quoted from Fumaderm leaflet
Quote:Every patient absorbs the active ingredients of Fumaderm differently. The absorption takes place in the small intestine about 5-6 hours after taking the tablets. This time interval between taking the tablets and absorption of the active ingredients by the body is important to know, so you can associate any side effects with taking the tablets.
The improvement of your psoriasis as well as the side effects in the gastrointestinal tract are the effects of the Fumaderm therapy on your organism. Therefor distinct side effects indicate a wanted but at the moment excessive effect on your organism. If you already experience severe side effects with one or two Fumaderm tablets daily, this means that you can absorb the active ingredients particularly well, in this case you should contact your treating doctor, who can adjust the proposed dosing regimen. Thus the success of the treatment will not be impaired. Please note that the side effects in the gastrointestinal tract often occur prior to the first improvements to the skin
So I think yes keep eating, and drinking plenty between 1.5-2 litres a day and try to follow carolines food ideas
I'm sure by cutting down you should see a lessening of the adverse effects
Jim
