Hi everyone

I'm Simone and been suffering from P since 2007, woke up one morning and it started to appear. I have p on the tops of my feet, patches on my elbows, knees and other patches appearing more recently. I lost my mum on Boxing Day, so half expected I would get more. I'm using topical steriods but would like to see what others are using.

Look forward to chatting ?

Hello Simone  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

First off let me say sorry for the loss of your Mum.

Yep psoriasis can do that, one day there is nothing and the next day you notice that little patch that just doesn't look right. One consolation about it is that it can hit anyone at any time, there are lots of speculation on what causes it but there is no suits all answer.

Have a good look through the Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis board to see your options there is a lot of choice, but you will need to be seeing a dermatologist to get the best treatment. So if you're not under a dermatologist demand that your doctor refers you to one, once you find a good dermatologist they will work with you to find what works best.

You will find us a friendly bunch, so just dive on in.

Regards.

Fred.

Hello Simone,

Welcome to psoriasisclub !
Sure we are in for some chatting Smile as we are quite a friendly bunch of people with the common problem of psoriasis,

Just dive in. You will find several threads on topical treatments, but also a lot on medication of members who have quite a problem with it.

Best thing is to just post some questions and someone will answer.

Next to the on topic threads, we have also the off topics, as this is necessary for just relaxing together, have a drink, or even a whole party!

Be comfortable with us!

Hi Simone and a big  Welcome  to the club you have found a great place for information and support here we are a friendly bunch of psoriasis sufferers, gladly sharing information on what is working for us but we are all different. So read away and learn what others use to control this disease.
Sorry you lost your mum, and that is the sort of trauma that can trigger a flare up, while your psoriasis is restricted to small areas you may have to stay on topical steroids but if you have been on them continuously it may be worth asking to move on to the next level of either tablets or injectable biological drugs ...
But the best thing is to get to see a dermatologist and take advice from them.

But in the meantime browse the health boards which are full of ideas and different treatments, and if you have any questions just ask there is usually someone to respond

Thank you for a warm welcome. I'm so happy I have found a forum for fellow P sufferers. I don't feel at all alone. I think a GP appointment is on the cards. My p is getting worse and I'm waking up in the night tearing at at Sad Sad

I will have a wonder about and look at diet change as I feel this is contributing as well.

Thank you all so much Thumb

If you do want to try diet there are some ideas here: Natural Treatments For Psoriasis

And this thread is a handy place to start: The anti-inflamatory food pyramid

Simone it may be a good idea when talking to your GP to ask for a referral to see a dermatologist they will be able to prescribe things your doctor can't . Medications like Fumaderm that I am on or may be uv treatment if you aren't to severe,
Your doctor will always send you away with creams which may not be the best thing for you if you are tearing at your skin .
So ask for a referral they should give you one then you are on the radar of the hospital and should be able to get it under control .
Diet change is good there are many threads on here about diet,
Come back often and ask away or as Caroline has said join us at some time in the off topic section  Thumb

Welcome  Simone,

Sorry about your mum :(

In the past I've felt as you have about P, so you dont have to be alone any more. Smile

As other's have said feel free to join in the fun on the boards, admittedly I'm the geeky weird one of the group but the others are pretty damn cool, but ssshhhh dont let them know I said that, they might get big heads and stuff.  eek
