Hi! My name is Connie.  I am 48 and I have had psoriasis since I was 12.  The psoriasis on my skin has never been that bad, I am happy to say.  Over the years I have put up with it for a while then decide to try a new medicine, none of which really had helped.  Like I said it is not very bad and not a worry really.  I had gotten a couple of places by my ears, which was really noticeable but usually it will clear up when I get out in the sun in the summer time.

I was finally diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis last June but I have had symptoms of it for years.   I had a hard time getting doctors to listen to me and I finally had to demand a referral to a rheumatologist.   It had finally gotten to where I could hardly walk and could not even turn the ignition key in my car.  I could not go on like that and keep working.   Things are getting better and I am hopeful it will continue to get better.  So that's the short version of my story.

Hi Connie  Welcome  to the club it's good to read your story, and nice to meet you .... you have found here a great site which has a great bunch of friendly psoriasis sufferers who share information and ideas about psoriasis no one here will try to sell you a cure or ask for donations, it is totally independent
Thank you for your introduction I assume that your psoriatic arthritis has responded well to the remicade

I look forward to hearing more about your journey on remicade , how long have you been on it  I wish you much luck with it
Feel free to join us in the off topic section when you want some light relief away from psoriasis

Hello Connie  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Yes the dreaded psoriatic arthritis, it can certainly change your life. Some are lucky and only get it mildly (I was one of them) till one day it struck me down and I couldn't move. I got to the stage of having to get help as I couldn't dress myself and my Wife was even offering to cut up my food for me, but once I started getting Remicade I started getting my life back so let's hope it does the same for you too.

Don't hesitate to start your own thread in Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis about your journey with Remicade if you wish, and just dive on in you will find us a friendly bunch and there is usually someone about. I'm often found in the [Group Specific] board, if you venture in there you will see I'm the only sensible one.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Connie welcome to the site, the inmates on here are fairly harmless so just join in. What there is on here is a wealth of knowledge about P and PsA so if you need to know anything I am sure you will find it on here. I have P and PsA and getting the medical profession to listen can be a big problem, I no longer have any faith in the majority of them .

Thanks for welcoming me to this forum.  I already feel like I am not alone in all this and everyone seems to be super friendly.  I can't wait to really start exploring and discovering new things about psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and meeting a group of friendly people.

Welcome Connie,

Read your story and I hope you will bet better soon. I have been struggling with PSA and P. I have been fortunate to find a rheumy who has helped my lumbar and cervical area with bio drugs and physical therapy.
It's never easy to search for a doc who can take the time to listen and go over your medical history taking X-Rays could be a first step and a then a referral to a specialist in PSA if necessary.
It takes time. There is hope. We can improve quality of life.
Healing blessings sent your way!

Hey Grizzly Bear, its funny you mentioned Connie Francis because that is where I got my name.  My dad saw her when he was in Vietnam and got to drive her around in a jeep and was quite taken with her. Could be also that my mom looked so much like Connie Francis at 18.   When I was born he insisted I be called Connie.
