Hello!! Fresh meat here!
I'm recently turned 18, from Ireland, diagnosed in 2007 with psoriasis.
I have, like most, tired various treatments for psoriasis none of which have helped.
The last treatment I tried was another round of light therapy (3rd round) that was a year ago.Safe to say the light therapy didn't work.
After waiting months (7 to be precicise) to see my derm again my psoriasis has slowly but surely managed to spread to even more. My psoriasis is now covering every inch of my body.
The only good thing about that is my derm now thinks my psoriasis is "serious" enough to try other treatments.
I'm going to start fumaderm in the coming weeks. This site has been great for finding information on it.
So thanks to the members who are using this drug for updating about their progress with it. It's truly helpful for others!
Have a good one Smile

Hi Eatingporridge Welcome  to the forum I'm glad you have found the Fumaderm threads helpful. Yes we have several members who have thrived on it, and hopefully it will be good for you. You will find us a friendly bunch of sufferers who are happy to share our experiences with others and hopefully have experiences others can relate to during their treatment
It's a shame you have suffered all your young life with this awful disease, but at last you have found a site where you can come and feel comfortable in your skin .... No mater how flakey it is  Smile
Fumaderm is a great drug and ok I'm a wee bit older than you but I have suffered since I was a teenager, but back in my day there weren't the treatments there are now. And until three and a half years ago I had a constant battle trying to control it ( usually unsuccessfully ) but now thanks to Fumaderm I am relatively clear and hope to stay that way.
Come back often and let us know how it works for you, we are here if you need any advice just shout .
We now have several younger members who will no doubt be introducing themselves in the coming days
Thanks for joining I'm sure you will benefit from belonging .... I know I do

I have been on the treatment for nearly four years now and as long as you have your bloods monitored and adjust your dose if the bloods go low it will be fine  it's not a fast working drug, you will know it's working though before you see any results on your skin, you will probably experience hot flushes and a few other things ( but I don't want to spoil the surprise...) have a read of the leaflet which gives a good explanation ... And remember they put all the nasties in the leaflet you are unlikely to experience many I just got cramps and flushes click on this link to see Fumaderm leaflet
It's a very safe drug and has been used in Germany for over 30 years it's relatively new to us in other parts of Europe though but we have their record to go by
I'm sure Caroline will explain about the version she is on in the Netherlands and you may well get other replies from other users... This site is packed with information and Caroline has done an excellent thread on DMF the active ingredient

Hi Eatingporridge,

Welcome to the forum, and you have chosen a very peculiar name. Smile

I am one of the DMF gang as Fred says. That means that I am not on Fumaderm, but on a different medication containing DMF, basically the same. I am on it for already about ten years and still going strong. I have PsA, so the version that is attacking my joints, my skin has had hardly any problems, except a little in my hairline.

You found a nice place to stay over here with us, I am sure of that. So mingle, learn and have fun in the off-topic part, because we are not only busy with our disease.

Cheers,
Caroline
