Hello, just thought I'd share I've been using a shampoo from Boots, it's from a range called Naked. Think it's 97% natural ingredients and after a long search it's one that you can get on the high st. which doesn't seem to have sodium laurel sulphate in it. It hasn't helped clear my scalp but it has helped reduce the itching (been using it about a year now) and I don't need to use quite as much xamiol now so less scaling all over (still chronic round my hair line though). Just wanted to share.

I'd be interested to know what other people use for soap/shampoo and what experiences they've had.

Thanks, JustJess Smile

After a lot of experiments I discovered a cereal based soap-free shower gel in our tiny local chemists that is made locally and have stuck to it, I used it as a shampoo too when my scalp couldn't cope with so called normal chemical gunk laden shampoos.

Oats especially are very soothing for the skin, I've often used a bath run through a net of oats for a bit of quick-fix relief (make sure you stick them in a fine mesh net or an old stocking or something though else you spend hours fishing the devils out of the bath)

Until I figure out what makes my psoriasis get worse, because it seems like everything under the sun (but not including the sun) makes it worse, I haven't been using any soap or shampoo, I just shower with really hot water. once a week I use a small dab of baby shampoo on my hair, but I'm super careful because my skin is so sensitive any shampoo I use makes my back break out. It was a pure stroke of miracle I figured out that it was shampoo that was giving me back acne. The only shampoo I might consider using again was the mint bronners pure castile soap.

I have had good luck using salicylic acid shampoos to remove the scale and coal tar shampoos to keep it from coming back so fast. Right now I am trying the psoriasin shampoo and body wash but gosh it stinks so I mixed a little peppermint oil with it.
Many find treating the scalp with glycerin at night helps but it doesn't seem to help my scalp.I do use it on my plaques and it seems to help a little.Of course I use psoriasin as well, and oxipor to knock the stubborn spots down.

Hi

I use Alphosyl, a Tar based shampoo prescribed by my GP (it is cheaper to buy over the counter)  - it doesn't leave a too nasty smell.

I also use Liz Earle shampoo and conditioner as it doesn't contain any Parabens or Sodium Laurly Sulphate(detergent)
This is nice to use if you are going out and don't want to smell like a Tar Pit -   Big Grin

I used Alphosyl shampoo years ago. I didn't know it was still available  Thumb

I still have a couple of bottles of polytar shampoo left that I used if scales started appearing in my scalp, but haven't usedl it for a while .... Just checked the expiry date eek 2010 I didn't realise it had been that long since I used it ( it has lauryl sulphate as an ingredient )
Nice to see you have control  Thumb
