(Mon-07-09-2015, 20:09 PM)One or two is ok.Hangovers are a definite no no as they lower your immune system.Hardly ever drink these days .On methotrexate they say you should avoid alcohol completely? Wrote:

Lots of good info here and thanks for sharing as it's always great to hear other people's experiences and what works for them.  I'm a firm believer that we are all different, we represent a lot of different types and severities of psoriasis and what works for one may not work for another but it's nice to hear all the treatments people are using.

Welcome!!

Thanks.I was clear of my psoriasis when I started using it after my holiday.Certainly has helped me keep it at bay.Hard to get dry skin when your using this stuff frequently. In the past I have been hospitalised by my psoriasis so I certainly know the bad times. It has certainly been my experience that the clearer you are the easier it is to contain.Sadly my beloved red wine has had to be sacrificed as this has been proved to be trigger for me.Thanks again.paul.

Confused shame about the red wine being a trigger, is all other alcohol ok?
And yes if you can keep on top of it and maintain a positive attitude , I'm sure it helps

Aah I see where you are Girty at the top instead of the bottom of the page ....no matter
Always scroll down the page and start writing after the last quote ( I regularly get it wrong )

I would think the occasional drink won't do much harm, I was never given any advice when I took it, had I been told no alcohol .. Then I wouldn't have chanced it

Yes Jim methotrexate can affect liver function ,so was told by consultant that no alcohol is allowed as this would compound the effect of the methotrexate on the liver. However a small amount of alcohol occasionally I think is acceptable. You have to live your life Jim.

Take my advice; I don't use it anyway.

I think a lot of drugs suggest avoiding alcohol. But, from reading on the forum here it seems quite a few ignore that Tongue but thankfully have no problems with a few drinks while on their meds. Goes back to each of us being different I'd guess, some can tolerate it while others may need to avoid it some or totally. I'm not much of a drinker so it doesn't affect me all that much when I need to avoid it.
