Hello all,

My name is Jessica and my main concern is my facial P.  All I ever hear is how rare it is and no solution.  I have tried over the counter cortisol creams to maintain it but I don't won't to keep using the steroids. There's got to be a better and safer.

Hello Jessica,

Welcome to Psoriasisclub !

I had seen that you already posted very early this morning, but couldn't read further on as I had to go to the office.

The club is a large group of very friendly sufferers from all over the world and I am sure replies will come to your questions.
Just gradually post your questions and we will try to help.

Cheers,
Caroline.

Welcome to the board.

In your case I think it at least makes sense to check your score.
There are a number of questions to answer so you can think also and verify.

You can find the score question list on the bottom and top of the page.

Caroline

Hi I'm new I did my score I'm a 18 what does that mean?

Hi Jessica,

You posted this question in the introduction of Richard. I took it out and put it in this thread in order to connect the question to one of your own thread.
Your score seems quite high to me. As Jim already answered is to see first a dermatologist. And have your psoriasis score checked with him.
There are several things you can discuss with a dermatologist, depending on the conclusions.
As your psoriasis is facial, I would almost think to go for further treatment with biologicals or other medication, I fear that using topicals on your face is not going to work if the psoriasis would get worse. It is also very bad for your skin, but you probably know that.

Hi Jessica nice to have a name to answer questions to  Thumb
I'm glad Caroline has put your other question here as it is more likely to be seen if in a thread of your own

I will say that facial psoriasis is not really that rare I don't think. I have certainly had it around my nose, on eyelids, forehead and chin.
Don't keep using steroid creams though they will damage your skin, they will thin the skin and you will be able to see the blood vessels through the thin skin, and then be more prone to sun damage, and the skin tearing easily... I found out the hard way ... I wish someone would have spelled it out to me years ago...

Re your score of 18.... to me that looks like moderate psoriasis.....this scoring system was devised by Fred ( who you will meet) to enable you to monitor your progress or to see if the psoriasis is getting worse. Or better

My score is three at the moment and I'm very happy with that, I do my score if I notice patches appearing

I will go back to my first comment to you though and advise as Caroline did that you seek the help of a dermatologist, .... This place is great to learn from and to take the knowledge you find here with you when you go to a dermatologist. So you will be able to discuss your options from a position of strength , and not be palmed off with more creams..

Hello Jessica  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I see Caroline and Jim have been helping you settle in. I have closed your other thread you had made in introductions as it will save any confusion, if you or anyone want to read it you can find it here: New member with facial plaque psoriasis

OK First off Facial psoriasis is not rare, a lot of people have it especially on the cheeks and the forehead so you are not alone. As for a solution. You don't want to be using steroid creams on your face, you should be using something milder like Silkis or if very bad Dovonex. Having said that I'm with the others, you would be much better suited talking with a dermatologist rather than using over the counter products. If you do want to continue with over the counter then for your face I can recommend Dexeryl, or better still a good quality Coconut Oil

Now for an explanation of the score you were asking about on another thread. The Psoriasis Score you find from the menu bar above is something I made to help me keep track of things and to be able to monitor my progress. Some members use it as do some guests, but it is not a recognised way of scoring psoriasis by the medical profession (That is done by the PASI score) I just find the one I made easier and I have shared for anyone to use if they wish.

You can find out more about the Psoriasis Score and the PASI score here:

Psoriasis Score

What is the PASI score my dermatologist uses ?

Hope that helps, but do just ask if you have any questions. None of us are doctors, but we probably know more about psoriasis than they do as we live with it and you will find a good mix of friendly people using a variety of treatments always will to share information.

Regards.

Fred.

Welcome Jessica Wave

I have P, small amounts, on my face. I use Bio-oil & it works !
Raw virgin coconut oil is also good.

Enjoy yourself on here & ask away any questions you have.

I cant remember the name of the cream I used, it was either Elecon or Eumovate, but it really helped clear up my face. I'll be honest, it was probably one of the easiest parts of my body to clear up!

Thank you all for being so welcoming.  I do need to see a doctor I just have had bad experiences with them.  In my case as well it's hard to find the time and money to see the doctors.  I would about the effect steroid and medicine will have on me and that's why I've been trying to find an organic solution that will help.  I stop the steroid cream this week and I have been trying out a new scrub with olive oil, brown sugar , and honey.  I really like it.  I use it on body and on my face it feels great but with my P it soaks in the moisture so quick.  Then my face of course starts to get dry.  The hardest thing for me is finding facial cleansers they will work for 2 weeks and then stop Angry .  I'm going to try the coccunut I'll though I have heard great things.

Has anyone heard about oil cleansing ?

I'm very happy to find this place. Thumb
