Hi Rebecca...

No it's not a bad thing at all.. Just bloody irritating!!

It will ease off in time.

Glad it's helping.

I would say its a bad thing if you are scratching off, as this can cause more damage to skin. If it comes off by itself that's fine x

Hi folks,

Also new to the site, not sure where to begin.

I tried baby oil and found it quite good some times but a bit of an irritant at other times. I put some in my bath, which seemed to be the best option for me. I also limited the times I did this to "crusty" times Smile.

I would suggest trying a small area first and going from there.

Cheers

Thadius

You must first gather the nerves to enter the Off-Topic sections....

Hi my name is David and I'm new to not only this club but also in how to handle this condition.

On the topic of baby oil or baby oil gel I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a possibility of ruining clothing. I have psoriasis in and around my belly button and don't want to ruin any shirts.

Thank you

Hello David,

Welkome to Psoriasisclub.
I saw you online and was able to approve immediately on your first post.

I can imagine that you have questions about oil, and personally I think it will ruin your shirts, but I am not the expert in this.
During the day others will log on who will see your question. And who may have an answer.

In the mean time do look around on the forum, because a lot has been posted already.
You will find a nice bunch of people with equal problems and lots of experience.

Maybe you can start a message in Introductions, to shortly tell who you are, so the members will know that you are new.

Hello David and welcome to the club, you will find it a very friendly place, and you will get lots of answers to your question I'm sure.
I don't think baby oil will ruin your clothes, I think it should wash out, but I'm no expert. I though like many others use a quality coconut oil rubbed well in, as a moisturiser helps and I have never had my clothes ruined by using it.
If you just have it around your belly button I would try coconut oil instead of baby oil,
That's just my opinion. As Caroline has said there is a lol of information on the site. If you need any help just shout and someone will answer. Look forward to hearing more from you as time goes on

I have the dry scarily skin in multiple places treating the belly button is the only one I was worried about ruining my clothing. Thank you for your advice I have seen you mention coconut oil many times as well as others refer to your fondness of it ? I believe I will give it a try for the belly at least and see how it does. My psoriasis started with a 2x2 inch patch on my scalp (the only patch that has been gone for years) it is now on both knees, both elbows, the outside of both ears, hands, all 10 nails, crotch, anus, right shin, and as I said my belly button.
