Sorry to read of your hassles, lilkell. As Caroline said, it may be possible to alter the dosing regime, although I would agree with Jim and think it more likely that you would be put on something else.

All the best.

So, it looks like my journey with fumederm will soon be over.

Having been clear of psoriasis since the start of my journey, my bloods have now hit low levels. My level is sitting at 0.5 and apparently the goal posts have moved for the blood levels to recommended 0.7. Due to this I had another blood test yesterday and I am awaiting if I have to discontinue. I am only on 1 -2 tablets a day and was asked to half the dose to see if that helped. My psoriasis has already started to return on my hands and elbows. So frustrating to get yourself clear for a period of time and then to be told you have to try something else. Confused

Will keep you posted.

Cheryl,I know it gets frustrated when you find a med that works and you have to get off of it for one reason or another.I was on Remicade infusions and had a bad reaction to it so I waited for months to get Enbrel injections.During that time I broke out all over a few weeks after I got off of it.I am clear now but never know if I will have another reaction from Enbrel.Keep your spirits up and hopefully you can find another Biologic that will work,I feel your pain cause it happened to me.Good luck and may you get back on the road to recovery! Kiss

Oh dear Cheryl. That is bad news for you after over 12 months clear.
0.5 is low and a wise move to reduce to see if your levels recover, I had it happen to me where my levels dropped right down, reducing the dose worked for me, and after a short while, I had scales start to break out, but my blood count ( lymphocyte) rose to just within normal levels and I was able to increase my dose and get clear again.
Could there have been another reason for your count to go so low, for instance an illness like the flu could affect your blood levels.
I hope that you are able to stay on it but if you do have to stop. There are many good treatments they can put you on
I wish you good luck and wait to hear how the next test goes. And hope the psoriasis doesn't get to bad in the meantime
Jim

Much better to be safe, and there are other treatments. At least if you stop Fumaderm everything will return to normal pretty quickly.

I can say nothing more than Bill, it is exactly right what he says.

Do read the posts of him and Jim on intermittent taking of Fumaderm. It will probably push up your lympho count. While still keeping the psoriasis away.

Yes it is very frustrating to find something that works only to have to stop. But don't get to down about it there are plenty of other options available today.

We are not all the same and what works for one may not work for another. It's all about finding what works for you and enjoy it whilst it does. If/when it goes wrong move on to something else.

Good luck.

The hardest part of this disease is being clear only to have it return. Hopefully, whatever your next journey is it works just as good.

So, as I work in the hospital, I had someone check my blood results today. Thankfully they are at 0.8 and I have suffered with a horrendous cold and cough which is going about. Just waiting to see what the dermatology nurse makes of my bloods and hopefully I can still continue with the tablets.

Thanks all for replying, it's frustrating to hear you have to stop a treatment that seems to work for you, but knowing others have had the same problem makes it a bit easier. Will try and keep you posted. Smile

Thanks Cheryl for the news that your bloods are getting better 0.8 from where you were is good. talk to the dermatologist and tell her you have had this infection and as the bloods are rising can you stay with it and have another test in a couple of weeks, maybe then if the levels are back over 1 you can increase your dose again with close monitoring........ I only say this because I have been there and got through it

Good luck whatever happens, do let us know
Jim
