Hello Ralph

And Welcome to our club. Its interesting to note from your post how quick they are in the States to put you on Bios. Over her in the UK we generally have to go through the gamut of failing with the 'chemical' systemics like methatrexate etc. first.
I look forward to future posts.

Any questions just ask. Nobody bites (I don't think?) and somebody will be able to point you in the right direction.

Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome. It is good to talk to people who understand what it is like to have this horrible condition, not to mention I have Bells Palsy on top of it (Got it in 2001). Over the years I somewhat figured out what would flare it up besides winter time. Unfortunately my mental strength is not there for some of it. The following is what effects me...

What is known to cause MY flare ups:
- Coffee
- Dairy
- Sugar
- stress
I do NOT drink Alcohol or smoke tobacco so that def helps!

The issue is I am a LEO and an Italian. I love my coffee! And what makes it worse is I like it light with cream and sweet. So unf I sometimes drink 3-4 large cups a day, this is not good , especially with refined sugar. Also diabetes runs high in my family, I am playing with fire.
I get plaque psoriasis mostly on my joints, legs, scalp and ears (once in awhile my fingers and toes). It is painful for me to kneel down when helping an aided and I am tired of cleaning my ears with a flat head screwdriver. I change my pants in the dark corner of the locker room to avoid some jerk-off saying something stupid and insulting.

The ONE time I was 100% clear was when I was running 8 miles everyday and eating grilled chicken and salad. NO coffee or Ice cream. Not only did I lose 70 lbs but I completely cleared of any plaque psoriasis. I was getting ready for the academy and medical team looked me over during the physical and they couldn't find anything. I felt incredible and free! Unf I thought it went away, haha. Little did I know. I am going back to the gym (could lose 20 lbs) and going to cut back. I love mtn biking and dream of wearing shorts!!!  This is my final post in this section. Tomorrow night I will start my new one!

thanks again!!

Indeed, you are close to the paleo diet with that approach. So understandable that you were clear. There is absolutely a relation between what we eat and psoriasis. It is also what my doctor says. Over here in the Netherlands nature oriented doctors together with my version of DMF did way better that the dermatologists in the hospitals. Even so good that the dermatologists have pushed them into the situation that DMF only was covered by the insurance if it was prescribed by the dermatologists and not anymore by nature oriented doctors. They combined DMF with a food prescription.

Thanks Ralph for the history of your disease and how you did manage to get clearance through diet and exercise ....but it is difficult sticking to a regime like that as you found, and as psoriasis is a life sentence you have to balance denying yourself the things you like against clearing the psoriasis..or going onto the drug route . I wish I could stick to a paleo diet but I like all the wrong things as well.

I hope you will find Cosentyx the drug to give you clearance, and I look forward to following your journey on Cosentyx
Good luck  Thumb
