Hi every one. I've had psoriasis for over ten years. I'm currently studying for my MSc and have had the opportunity to run some original and exciting reserch, associated with psoriasis. I was wondering if any one wanted to get involved:

Please contact: ************

RESEARCH DETAILS:
Psoriasis is a relatively common chronic skin condition, affecting around 2% of the population. Despite this, little treatment emphasis has been placed on non-physical aspects of treatment, such as social and psychological wellbeing.

We are seeking volunteers to participate in a research project investigating new ways of approaching these challenges. If you live with psoriasis and would be interested to learn more or volunteer as a participant, in an organized research study, please get in touch.

The study requires that you are open minded, have personal internet access, and are willing to participate from your own home for around 30 minutes each day for one week. Participants must also have a mobile phone able to receive text messages.

EDIT by Fred: I have been going through some of these types of threads and although they promise to come back and talk to us about the research, they never do. So they obviously want free traffic from this website to theirs, and from now on I will not allow any posts for recruitment to research.

I have also removed any mentions or links to the relevant program, as Psoriasis Club is not here to promote research.

Hello Steve and Welcome

Could you answer the following questions please.

#1 You say we need to contact you to learn more about the study, and we need to be open minded. Could you not tell us on this thread more about the study and why we need to be open minded?

#2 Also why would we need a Mobile Phone that receives texts? I personally wouldn't be keen to let you keep sending me texts as it's not possible to block a sender should I wish to do so.

Thanks.

Fred.

Hi Fred, thanks for your questions. Hopefully the following will answer any concenrs and questions you have.

The research is being carried out, and ethically approved by and in association with **********. Particiaption would last for seven days. The study is designed to be run at a distance electronically. No actual physical contact between researcher and particiapnt.

The format invovles particiapnts reciving one e-mail per day which will give them access to an intervention designed to help individuals develop and improve personal ability to cope and deal with the social, psychological and emotional challenges of living with psoriasis. During participation (seven days) as part of the study the volunteer will recieve three text messages in total. This study meets the highest criteria of confidentiality and privacy.

The research is being supervised by **************

thank you for your questions

Thanks for the reply Steve sorry for the negative approach it's just me Rolleyes

I'm lucky I have no problem with the social, psychological and emotional side of things with psoriasis so I'm probably no good to you. I guess after 30 odd years you just get used to it.

Good luck with it maybe some of our members will be interested. please keep us informed on how it's going. I will also Tweet this thread for you.

Regards.

Fred.
