Had scalp psoriasis for about five years.  Its since spread to one lower leg and now starting to take up residence on my lower belly.  My usual treatment / control I've found to be most enjoyable is a good scratch. Since have been advised that far better is a pair of mittens (thick ones).

Tried dif. stuff but once i get on top of the psoriasis I tend to forget about it and treatment laps.   My wife has researched for me more intensely than I and so far we have dropped the cortisone stuff and are trying to go natural.  Best so far is licorice herb + fenegreek.  Both simmer-boiled for 10-15 mins. then water stored in fridge & painted on with a shaving brush when needed.

I haven't tried diet yet.  But just ate choc. 2 days straight.  My tummy + leg psoriasis are itchy-itchy and flaring.  So I've come seeking 'internal' advice.  What do I need to avoid etc.  Reg. blood tests indicate poor liver + too low Vit. D

So far, I'm way to chubby and are about to start walking daily.  Hopefully you guys are gonna suggest other ways to combat this through changing diet etc.

best
AaLF

Hello AaLF  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I'm not a fan of the natural approach as it's not something I could stick too, and long term results are short on the ground. But we do have a natural section if you would like to try. Natural Treatments For Psoriasis

Or if you are feeling really Mad adventurous you could try our resident Aussie Bill here: Bill's pure dimethylfumarate thread not something I would recommend but it works for him and he does keep the thread updated.

Have a good look round and just dive on in.

Regards.

Fred.

Oh and if you have any of your fabulous Soft Liquorice you could throw some my way.  Smile

Hi AaLf  Welcome to the forum good to see you have found us, you won't find a better place for help and advice about trying to control psoriasis, the best advice I can give is to see a dermatologist and get on a course of treatment that won't restrict your diet ( I only say this because I can't do diet I like food too much)

But if you are intent on the natural course there is as Fred has pointed out  a whole section on natural treatment

We have a member Alan that recently joined here and has a thread where he points at the things to avoid, but more importantly what you can eat here How I Cured My Psoriasis By Diet

You ask for other advice firstly ditch the chocolate  Whistle ( chuck it this way) the fact you are going to take some exercise will be helpful in getting your body more healthy and might help your liver

Welcome AaLF  Wave
I'm with Fred with regard the natural approach, I just don't have that level of self control. I'm currently on Acitretin which is a vitamin A derivative tablet. Non of the lotions potions or UV treatment gave me much in the way of relief for any period of time.
I know there is a bit of a time shift between the core and yourself but any questions ask away we are all tame and house trained and somebody will be able to answer our point you in the right direction.  Thumb

Welcome to the forum from down under, I read your post and I ,like Fred, are not a great believer in diet to control P as I have never really come across anyone who has managed to achieve a good control of P over a long period with it, maybe they had a remission and maybe they felt better on a diet as it was better than what they eat normally. Have a good look around the site because you will find more info on P/PsA than anywhere that I know and any questions will be answered truthfully by people who have the same problems.
Welcome and all the best. Dave

The dermatologists + doctor down here only vary in what cortisone they'll prescribe.

Aussie Bill, Fred? You make me sound like a friggin koala. Hello AaLF. You will find heaps of info here on diet and natural remedies. Pierreblonde (aka Keith) got good results this way and outlines his approach on the forum. While I dont ignore diet and nutrition, for me they are very secondary to drugs in the management of my psoriasis and psoriatic arthropathy.

The biggest mistake I made with my illness was not seeking effective treatment sooner. I certainly wish I had discovered Psoriasis Club sooner. There are many effective treatments for psoriasis these days. You should be seeing a dermatologist and getting a treatment plan prepared to manage your disease. And you can forget banana peels.

Cheers,

Bill

What you mean you're not a Koala. I thought you was a cute little Koala in a white coat. Snigger
