Hi all

So basically I've had psoriasis since I was 14 (30 now), at one point it had taken over my legs, back, stomach and scalp. Been using the creams, gels, ointments and solutions provided by my gp which did help but never got rid of it. So I've never been free of psoriasis since I've had it and I've even had uv treatment and methotrexate at one point but still no luck so I basically decided to stop using everything except the dovobet gel for my scalp and just came to terms with the fact that I will never get rid of it. Anyway I decided to join a gym to loose a little weight and get in shape somewhat, there was no change in my diet when I started and continued like this for the first 3 months still looking the same but my psoriasis did improve slightly. Then I went on a low carb diet for 8 weeks which was definitely the game changer, I lost and stone and more importantly 90% of the psoriasis had disappeared and whatever remained I used to steriod based treatment and for the first time in 16 years I was free of psoriasis. I never heard or read that diet could help psoriasis until after I had noticed changes on my body, guys I cannot stress this enough, it actually works. Plz plz plz try it, for your own benefit. It wasn't a easy 8 weeks but it was definitely worth it.

So my diet and gym plan

Mon and Tuesday gym
Wednesday rest
Thursday and Friday gym
Saturday and Sunday rest

1 hour intense sessions of cardio and weights

My diet was simple and easy

8am Breakfast boiled eggs or oats or porridge with low fat milk and a protein shake

11am apple

1pm lunch chicken or beef or fish with a green salad

3 pm pear

6pm dinner chicken or beef or fish with vegetables

And plenty of water throughout the day

Saturday I had 1 cheat meal ?

All foods cooked healthy, touch of olive oil only if I had to. No bread, fizzy drinks or juices, and no junk food at all.

Please try it and I hope it helps you the way it helped me

Hi SA and  Welcome  to the club as you may have seen there are several people here that tell us of their success with diet and exercise
i admire anyone that can stick to a diet ...unfortunately I'm not one of them, I have tried all sorts of remedies in my long life with the disease and until a few years ago was not able to find anything that worked for long periods.
But I do hope your diet and exercise plan continues to work and I will be delighted to read of your continuing success
We are a very friendly group of sufferers and we are always ready to listen to anything that works

Enjoy your membership, and join in on any of the threads, you will be made to feel welcome

And I would say come and join us for a drink....we do have water  Thumb [Group Specific]

Good luck

Jim

Edit

Sorry SA I didn't notice you have been a member here longer than I have Doh

I have in past times taken strong measures with diet and exercise. Held against my current treatment, such measures are useless. Were someone with severe untreated illness to follow such advice in lieu of specialist care, he could do himself some serious harm. I am very much a doubting Thomas and hold the view that substantial and ongoing photographic documentation should accompany these claims. Even with this provided I would remain skeptical. I am happy to drown in ratbaggery, especially my own, but of bs I cannot stand even a jot.

Cheers,

Bill

I do think that sometimes some of these diets and fitness programmes may reduce the stress side of their personalities which may be one of the triggers that causes P for them , at some stage it usually returns when something else triggers it off again. The mind is a very strange thing . s15

What works for some may not work for others, psoriasis is a very strange and horrible thing. Personally a good diet and general fitness was key. It's obviously no cure and psoriasis will defo come and go but this for me helped me keep on top of things!

That is good, S.A 28, but where is your proof? If you really want to convince people then provide evidence i.e. before, after, and ongoing. The internet is awash with this sort of tale, and most are probably untrue. By providing strong evidence you can at least be more convincing and might even help people.

Cheers,

Bill

Bill, may I ask, what motive would a person have for making it up? It's not as though he's trying to sell something. I had a nasty outbreak when I was 18, and afterwards cleared up and had no more psoriasis for about ten years. I have no photographic proof. But I also no motive for making it up!

Hi TL,

I have no reason to doubt the story, nor do I have any truth divining abilities, but I dont doubt that there are many dodgy people, a few of whom have tried to post here. Now, if I were selling phony cures I would like to post on a site like this for the testimonial value. I know what a crappy and depressing illness I've had, and I also know that desperate and vulnerable people get the vultures circling. Asking for proof does not make me obnoxious, nor does it make the story true or false. Providing evidence simply makes the story more powerful.

Cheers,

Bill
