Hey Everyone!

Just made an account, was recently diagnosed with Palmoplantar Pustulosis Psoriasis. I've had this now for about 3 months, it only affects my hands and feet.

My finger nails on one hand have the typical excess skin under the nail forcing the nail off etc and my hands are peeling, red, itchy but not really sore.

My feet however are where the real problem is, I have several lacerations and new ones opening on a regular basis making it extremely difficult to walk and i'm in quite some pain no matter what i'm doing with my feet.

I'm only 23 and this just kind of came out of nowhere, i don't mind the aesthetics, I guess i'm lucky in that not many people see your feet but even the finger nails and hands it's not a big deal for me, the issue is with the effect it is having on my quality of life, I train MMA 5 days a week, I cycle a lot I walk places etc and I haven't been able to train for nearly 3 months now, it's getting me down not to mention the pain of just walking around in every day life.

Any advise or tips for dealing with this would be much appreciated, thanks!!

Hi Bob and I'm glad you have registered and made your first post so  Welcome to the club, where you will find a friendly group of sufferers ( some more sane than others Whistle ) you will find ...but we do all support each other through this disease and advise what works and what doesn't in a non judgemental way.

You are very young to have to suffer with this and as you say it's the foot pain and not being able to walk on them which must be the hardest thing to deal with,

You say you have only just been diagnosed ....was it a GP or a dermatologist that diagnosed it . A dermatologist should have steered you onto a path of treatment, if they haven't I suggest you get back in touch with them and tell them how it's affecting your quality of life and you need to be treating it with something

Enjoy finding your way around the site, and should you want to learn of the new innovations in the prescribed drugs and more about the disease just go to this link and sign up for a monthly newsletter Groups

Hope to hear more from you and if you have any questions just shout there is often someone close by to answer

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the response, I was misdiagnosed twice by a GP, I went to a Podiatrist who suggested it could be psoriasis, I then happened to come in contact with a Doctor while taking my sister to A&E and on first glace he said Psoriasis, this prompted me to see a dermatologist yesterday who confirmed it was Psoriasis. As far as treatment goes she put me on a long list for some ultraviolet treatment for the nails and prescribed an acid based cream to be applied every night for two weeks.

I know myself that stopping smoking, limiting stress and changing my diet may all help but of course it's all very difficult and will take time, for the short term just to be able to manage my feet and start doing the things I want to do again would be ideal.

I hope the salicylic acid I assume that's what you have. Will ease your feet and hands and the light treatment may help your nails but you may have to keep going back for future treatments

Good luck do let us know if it helps...or even if it doesn't then we can advise you what to do next Thumb

Yes I think that's the one Jim, I will see how it goes and update my post accordingly, looking around the forum I believe i'm going to give the "hemp hearts" a go. Ideally I'd like to try CBD oil but unfortunately I'd need to go abroad to see if that helps.

Do also think of the coconut oil, Bob, there are many on the forum that use it to relieve itching and scaling.

By the way, hello Wave , and welcome.

Hi Caroline, thanks in what sense? Using it to cook food with or applying to the affected areas?

Use it as a moisturiser twice a day, but especially after a shower/bath.
