I was first diagnosed with dermatitis and given an ointment which didn't help. After being sent to a dermatologist, I got the proper diagnosis of psoriasis and then treatment. I agree with others, get an appointment with a dermatologist. Although I will admit that at first the dermatologist changed the ointment for another topical and it was only after that didn't work that I was offered UV and oral meds.
There's lots of info here on the different types of treatments available and knowing what's out there can help you greatly when discussing treatments with your doctor.
