Kyntheum in Europe / Siliq in the USA: (generic name brodalumab)

Siliq / Kyntheum: Is taken by injection under the skin and after tuition the patient can do this themselves, see first post in this thread for some tips. The recommended starting dose of Silq / Kyntheum is 210 mg once a week for the first 3 weeks with a maintenance dose of 210 mg every 2 weeks. Treatment will usually be stopped if there is no improvement after 12 - 16 weeks.

Patients should be checked for tuberculosis (TB) before taking Siliq / Kyntheum and you should have regular blood tests.

Who should not take Siliq / Kyntheum?
  • People with active serious infections, history of recurrent infections.
  • Children - Siliq / Kyntheum is not aproved for under 18s.
  • You should consult your specialist if you are pregnant, planning a baby, or breast feeding.
  • People with Crohn’s disease.
  • Those that have had suicidal thoughts.

What should I watch for AFTER starting Siliq / Kyntheum?
  • Infections.
  • Allergic Reactions.
  • Fevers sweats chills, muscle aches, coughs, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm.
  • Weight loss.
  • Warm, red, or painful skin or sores on your body
  • Diarrhoea or stomach pain, burning when you urinate or urinate more often than normal

The most common side effects of Siliq / Kyntheum include: Joint pain, Headache, Tredness, Diarrhea, Mouth or throat pain, Nausea, Muscle pain, Injection site reactions, Llu (influenza), low white blood count (neutropenia), and Fungal infections of the skin.

*Note: There have been reports of siliq / Kyntheum and Suicidal Thoughts so this information has to be included with the patient information.
