ADDITIONAL NOTES AND EXPLANATIONS FOR PATIENTS

In addition to the content of the package leaflet, it is possible for the marketing authorisation holder to give further generally understandable explanations about the respective medicine or treatment procedure

Many patients experience side effects during treatment with FUMADERM initial and FUMADERM respectively, these are e.g. Alterations in the blood cell count and/or intolerance in the gastrointestinal tract.

Therefore we want to try to explain or comment on some of the side effects that can occur during taking FUMADERM. If you have additional questions about therapy with FUMADERM initial and FUMADERM respectively, you can contact us via free phone number +49 800 3636400 or send an email to biogenidec.com

dosage and side effects

Treatment of your psoriasis with the medicines FUMADERM initial and FUMADERM follows a certain dosing regimen. This dosing regimen specifies when to increase your FUMADERM initial and FUMADERM dose , respectively, and at what time of day you should take your tablets. It has been shown that this regimen is suitable for most patients on FUMADERM initial and FUMADERM treatment respectively.
However if you experience severe side effects ( e.g. Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea, cramps in the gastrointestinal tract) during treatment with FUMADERM initial and FUMADERM , respectively, you should absolutely contact your treating doctor, who can adjust the proposed dosing regimen, as otherwise continuation of the therapy is at risk.

Starting therapy with FUMADERM initial

First of all you should necessarily start your FUMADERM therapy with FUMADERM initial
This medicine is intended to improve tolerance of the treatment and accustoms your body to the active ingredients of FUMADERM. You should contact your treating doctor if you experience side effects, like abdominal cramps or diarrhoea e.g. When switching from FUMADERM initial to FUMADERM. The doctor can together with you  determine the individual dosing increase to ease  possible side effects and guarantee the further treatment

Continuation of therapy with FUMADERM ( blue tablets)

Every patient absorbs the active ingredients of FUMADERM differently This absorbtion takes place in the small intestine about 5 to 6 hours after taking the tablets. This time interval between taking the tablets and absorption of the active ingredients by the body is important to know, so you can associate any side effects with taking the tablets .

The improvement of you psoriasis as well as the side effects in the gastrointestinal tract are the effects of the FUMADERM therapy on your organism . Therefore distinct side effects indicate a wanted but at the moment excessive effect on your organism. If you already experience severe side effects with 1or2  FUMADERM tablets daily, this can mean that you absorb the active ingredients particularly well. In this case you should contact your treating doctor, who can adjust the proposed dosing regimen. Thus the success of the treatment will not be impaired.

Please note the side effects in the gastrointestinal tract often occur prior to the first improvements to the condition of the skin
