Hi i am new to this forum. Am currently having a really bad flare up of psoriasis which is really getting me down. Am with a new partner who has not seen a flare up before so doesnt know how to console me. I just need to talk to people who understand what its like. I am currently covered from head to toe and the more i stress about it the worse its getting. have had pleanty of sleepless nights having been too itchy to sleep any advice would be very much welcome as i am my wits end and definately on the verge of depression.
thanks
charlene

Hello Charlene Welcome to Psoriasis Club. I have moved your post here to it's own thread.

Don't let things get you down, you will find we are a friendly bunch on here and we understand. Have a good look around the forum for some things that others are trying. Are you seeing a Dermatologist?

Re new partner, it's always difficult but the best thing would be to get it out in the open as soon as possible. Get together with your partner over a glass of wine and read these threads together.
Types Of Psoriasis Explained
Psoriasis Myths and History
Is Psoriasis Contagious?

Stress does make it worse, but talking about it does help. It's nothing to be ashamed of having psoriasis, it can hit anyone at any time. And any decent person would want to understand and help you cope with it.

Regards.

Fred.

Welcome

Nice to meet you,

Sometimes just finding a new partner can cause stress as you panic before you've even gotten very far.

Did you ever tell your new partner that you suffer with psoriasis? You might be surprised when they tell you they already know someone with the condition.

Like Fred seeing a dermatologist may be a good idea.

F you are feeling self conscious there are a couple of things that may help, wearing light coloured clothing can help hide flakes, same goes with bed sheets and furniture. Just by changing a couple of things like that can really help give you a boost.

Please don't let your skin rule your relashionships, it just isn't worth it Thumb

Thank you. I have booked another doctors appointment today and am going to insist they send me to a dermatologist. I have never seen one before although when i get a flare up im 70-80% covered but i have also never spoke to people who have psoriasis. I feel like ive been fobbed off by doctors but hopefully thanks to advice from you i can put my foot down with them. Thanks for the advice just knowing i have people to talk to has made me feel better Smile

Some doctors do fob you off, but then again they can't know everything. A Dermatologist will be able to asses you and start on the right treatments for you. It may take time but they won't give up. And don't worry about seeing a Dermatologist they have seen it all before and they definitely won't say nasty things to you.

You just keep talking to us we don't care what you look like, and one day you may find you're on here helping others back. Thumb Oh and that makes you feel good too.

Hello Charlene,

Welcome to our forum, I may say that may I Fred?
It is a very nice place to stay. To talk with others who have alike problems in several different forms of seriousness.
To make fun.
To drop your feelings.
To post your ideas.

We are all the same over here and accept each-other just as we are.

Have a good time over here!

Caroline
