Has anyone here had any odd internal problems? I have had chronic Pancreatitus. I just seems odd to me that I have P and PA and also another rare condition the Pancreatitus. My Gastro Dr. claims that there is no connection but I am sceptic. Right now I sit here with my gut jutting out swelled up and half luppy from Oxycotten.

Hi Monstermash,

No for me no odd internal problems are significant. Can't help you with that, only I can express my concern for you and hope you will quickly recover.

Cant say I've ever found any link with internal problems and P / PsA. I do sometimes feel like my PsA is affecting my internal muscles, but that's not the same.

Don't know if this helps:

Causes:
Eighty percent of pancreatitis is caused by alcohol and gallstones. Gallstones are the single most common etiology of acute pancreatitis. Alcohol is the single most common etiology of chronic pancreatitis.

Some medications are commonly associated with pancreatitis, most commonly corticosteroids such as prednisolone, but also including the HIV drugs didanosine and pentamidine, diuretics, the anticonvulsant valproic acid, the chemotherapeutic agents L-asparaginase and azathioprine, estrogen by way of increased blood triglycerides, cholesterol-lowering statins and the antihyperglycemic agent sitagliptin.

There is an inherited form that results in the activation of trypsinogen within the pancreas, leading to autodigestion. Involved genes may include Trypsin 1, which codes for trypsinogen, SPINK1, which codes for a trypsin inhibitor, or cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator.

Other common causes include trauma, mumps, autoimmune disease, scorpion stings, high blood calcium, high blood triglycerides, hypothermia, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Pancreas divisum is a common congenital malformation of the pancreas that may underlie some recurrent cases. Pregnancy can be a cause, possibly by increasing blood triglycerides. Diabetes mellitus type 2 is associated with a 2.8-fold higher risk.

Less common causes include pancreatic cancer, pancreatic duct stones, vasculitis (inflammation of the small blood vessels in the pancreas), coxsackievirus infection, and porphyria—particularly acute intermittent porphyria and erythropoietic protoporphyria.

A number of infectious agents have been recognized as causes of pancreatitis.

Coxsackie virus
Cytomegalovirus
Hepatitis B
Herpes simplex virus
Mumps
Varicella-zoster virus
Legionella
Leptospira
Mycoplasma
Salmonella
Aspergillus
Ascaris
Cryptosporidium
Toxoplasma

Good luck with it, I hope you get sorted soon. And please keep us informed.

Regards.

Fred.

Thanks Fred.
I can illiminate 2 right away. Haven't drank since 2 Christmas' ago when it first hit me and I spent 10 days in the hospital. And last year they opened me up to drain a cyst on my pancreas by sewing it to my stomace and draining it out through there. While inside of me they also removed my gallbladder. I did read somewhere that some internal organs can be affected by PA but it only mentioned lungs aorta and various other muscles. It is inflamation of some sort that causes Pancreatitus. I am curious because it seems to run in cycles. I will look up some of the other things you posted. I may stumble on something one day I hope because the Gastro Dr that I'm seeing isn't helping. I am better today after eating only two small things the last two days and liberaly applying the pain killers.Rolaf Monstermashs' quick way to loose 15 pounds in a week.
Thank you for the well wishes Caroline.
