Hi!  I came from the Philippines.  I have psoriasis for over 6 years, just an estimate[/font].  I just could not remember when it started.  I was diagnosed sometime in 2010.  However, i did not mind it too much as it only started on my left elbow. Though I didn't mind it too much, I had gone from one doctor to another.  I was prescribed ointments for anti-fungal infections however it was not cured.  Then early this year, i noticed a red spot below my throat which prompted me to see a dermatologist.  That was on February 5, 2013 that I started seeing a derma. You know what the derma told me?  She said i'm lucky my psoriasis has not spread all over my body.  Now, i have them in both hands, and some parts of my body.  Thanks to the dermatologists that i visited my psor is controlled.  Actually i visited 2 dermas one in the place where i live and the other is in Quezon City.  Both of them are so good.  I love seeing them both.

Good to hear you have got yourself a dermatologist, well not only one but two.

Do you mind if I ask about your health system, is treatment in the Philippines free or paid for via insurance ?

Well, it's not free. We pay and if we have insurance, it's chargeable to the insurance co. Not all of us have health insurance.

Thanks for that, it's interesting to see how different countries run their health systems. In the UK it's free but I think you pay a small amount for prescriptions. In France where I live you pay on average 30% or have a top up insurance, but if you talk to your doctor he/she will sign a form to get you 100% for a long term illness. And in France Psoriasis and especially Psoriatic Arthritis is classified as a long term illness so you get 100% reviewed every 5 years.

You're lucky. Me here, i have to pay all the medical fees and the medicines, these are expensive for me but i tried to buy everything for my health but there are medicines which I was not able to buy. I only bought the most important.
