Hello Everyone,

I am Nicola and im 29. I have suffered with psoriasis for 15 years (since going to the drs with a small patch on my head, not knowing what it was!) - since then i've had my ups and downs and so has my skin!
I have had so many treatments I struggle to remember, all the topical treatments under the sun, light therapy, ciclosporin, homeopathy, chinese medicine (wouldnt recommend, it stripped my stomach lining), acupunture (prob not the right spelling!), vegetarian diet, brocolli diet, having a child (this is of course, not the only reason I had a baby! and yes, it did clear my psoriasis up, but can back with a vengence!) and have finally settled on camouflage make up for my face (thanks to the wonderful Red Cross who I am forever thankful for! and supermarket creams/olive oil!

More recently the dreaded psoriasis is creeping onto my legs which is the worst thing ever because it was the only thing I had to show off! so I am gutted about it but trying not to let it get me down! I am trying to get the sun on my legs as its always brilliant for me! (although have never used a sunbed).

About three years ago (I was in my mid twenties) I was asked to leave a resturant for offending a 'regular customer' with my psoriasis (i refused to pay the bill) and I have had low points due to my skin but then I have days where I think 'who cares!' - they are the best days and I am experiencing one of those periods now!

I may in the future consider mexotrexate (once Ive had another child) but for now I am focusing on the positives! and its nice to finally have people to share my experiences with!

Hello Nicola Welcome to Psoriasis Club, I'm always here Rolleyes

Others are not always about, and some pop in and out, but you will find a good mix of people who understand. Have a good read through some threads and don't be afraid to shout out, you will find a small but friendly bunch of people.

Re your experience with camouflage, you may have a few tips to share in the Skin Camouflage thread here: Skin Camouflage would be good to get a bit more info in that thread after it seems to have gone a bit off track. Rules

Keep focused on the positives.

Regards.

Fred.

Hello Scoopsgirl/Nicola,

Welcome to the board.
Indeed Fred's right, he is almost ever here. It takes a bit of luck, to sneak on the forum while he is not there.

You have tried already a lot on getting control over your psoriasis. Didn't know that having a child would help, but I am not into that treatment yet..

Before you start with MTX, read on, on the forum. There are quite some other treatments, lots of them to my opinion better than MTX.
There are a few threads on MTX, but also on treatments you probably never heard of.

Yesterday, while having a walk with a girlfriend, I heard of a new treatment in Germany. This treatment is developed for attacking Lyme's disease but also helps fighting psoriasis and perhaps other autoimmune diseases. It concerns kind of a reset of your immune system.

Unfortunately you live in the UK and the UK is a bit lacking behind on alternative approaches compared to Germany and Holland.
The EU is trying to destroy this advantage with international treaties like TTIP, developed in the secret rooms, but we are trying to stop this.

Anyway, have a good time and a good read. Love to hear from you.

Caroline
