Hi There!  Wave

I was diagnosed with Guttate this past June. (Some turned into Plaque and some went Inverse. Yay.) I am not only a newbie to the board but also to Psoriasis. My dermatologist didn't tell me much - Like it's an autoimmune disorder or... Chronic... Needless to say, I've been soaking up as much info as possible from the internet while trying to avoid the quackery/rip-offery stuff. Altho', the itching has driven me to not care too much about self-experimenting. I don't care about the spots so much, even the ones on my face, it's the itching I can't stand.

My heart goes out to everyone with this condition. I'm only on my second flare up and I'm already searching for a cure! [Image: biggrin.gif]

Take care!
-Beezie

Hello Beezie  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I will say first off there Is No Cure! There are however treatments that can help you manage it. You should be Very Very careful of what you find on the internet, there are a lot of scams out there that will only make your bank balance go down.

It is an autoimmune disorder and recognised as such by most countries so your dermatologist is right, and your searches on the internet will not provide much more than you can find here. So just dive on in and and talk to real people with psoriasis who are living with it and many have done for a long time, you will find a friendly bunch of people and guaranteed no "quackery/rip-offery stuff" if you do spot any let me know and they will be thrown out the door.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Fred,

Thank you kindly for the welcome! Don't worry, I know there is currently no cure. I do want to find out more about autoimmune disorders, since I have another one. My hope is to find what best works to put the P into remission for as long as possible and share that in case it may help another. I've already found out that not everyone responds the same way to treatment.

Oh - And my dermatologist never said it was an auto-immune disorder/being chronic. She left that important bit out. I found that out online. My apologies, I was writing a bit too quickly, I probably didn't make myself very clear.

Take Care!

No need to apologise, we do have other members that also have other autoimmune problems too so you're not alone.

As for making yourself clear, I've never been able to do that I just make it up as I go.  Wink

Hi jiml!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm very happy to have found a place that isn't trying to sell anything and there are no ads all about the pages.

I will definitely check out the Health Boards, and Off Topic sounds great. Thanks for letting me know about it, I hadn't come across those, yet.

I'm not downhearted at all about the lack of a cure. Just itchy. So, so itchy.   Big Grin   If I can learn to live with that and long sleeves in the summer, I'll be fine.  Thumb

Hello Beezie,

Welcome from the Netherlands.
I hope, no I am sure, you will have a good time over here at the psoriasisclub forum. It is a nice place to be. Certain members hover here all day, but I see you have already met them. Big Grin

We are discussing and exchanging information about our disease and about the several approaches that we are following to fight against it.
Indeed it is an auto immune disease that is difficult to handle as we all are different. But there are in the mean time a lot of treatment possibilities and still more are being added to it.
Through the forum we keep a close watch to what is happening, thanks to Fred who is a master of finding new tryouts and investigations.

Hope to talk with you later on.

Caroline.
