This thought has been mulling around the cavernous void of my head for a while now and peoples experience on this forum have only made me question;
Most people as far as I can tell end up falling out with each drug in turn as the body gets used to it. Is there any milage in cycling through a couple of drugs on an x month rotation to avoid tolerance (I am assuming a short delay to purge the body and compatibility).
I do wonder? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Answers on the back of a postage stamp please Big Grin

Not sure to be honest. I suppose if you stopped taking something and went onto something else it could work. But most tend to keep trying till they find the one that works.

Or the other side of it could say how long is a piece of string? Do you take X for say 3 months then stop for a month to get it out of your system before going onto Y for 3 months before stopping again. My thinking would be all the stopping and starting and changing could cause flare ups.

I would say keep trying till you find one that works for you. Then if/when it stops working try again.

I'm with Fred on this although I see what you mean and it would be good if you could chop and change with a gap between so the drugs don't clash....the problem as Fred says is that often you will read on here that as soon as someone stops a treatment, the psoriasis comes back often quickly and sometimes with a vengeance

Most people and dermatologists tend to find a treatment that works and stick with it until it fails and hope it keeps working ... Thumb

For my treatment, doc advises intermittent use. That is, use it during the week and refrain from it during the weekend. This will prevent getting used to it too much. Jim tried this approach, but runs into trouble with it, P is breaking through. Bill on the other side (literally Smile ) works exactly like this and has great results.

I am on my treatment for around ten years now, with basically continuous good results.

Most doctors already use this concept. Build up to max dose until clear, then drop the dose to maintain. Problem is that some of us need the max dose to maintain.

Treatments are becoming more targeted, so it would make more sense to combine therapies than rotate them. Combining therapies seems fairly standard, and I have found that even simple treatments like Fred's coconut oil are very helpful. Rotation of itself is problematic, not least because of what you go through to find one treatment. I would be very reluctant to stop my current therapy and try something else.

I understand what you're saying, but I would follow the doctor's recommendations. Since not everything works for each of us, if you find something that is working then I would stick with it!
