I read recently that psoriasis doesn't only affect mental health because of low self esteem, lack of sleep etc., but it actually affects the brain physically.

Don't suppose you have any good articles in here? Smile

I don't remember any related specifically to the brain and psoriasis.

You're welcome to send me a pm with what you have and I'll look into it. Or take a chance and post what you know and see if I delete it.  Big Grin

But seriously TL as you know I prefer to keep Psoriasis Club as independent as possible and only post from reliable sources that are not involved in pharma or advertising. I don't want to put people of from posting what they have found and as a trusted member you are welcome to post as long as it is a reliable source, I will soon let you know if I think it's not.

Or run it by me first if you prefer.

Sorry TL it's Friday Evening I don't think we have much chance of getting a serious answer.

Have a look at my post and go from there.

I'm off to the Bar 15

Thank you TL for the PDF document.

I had misunderstood your original question (Merlot Time  Wink ) But what I get from it is that we do know there is a lot of information about the relation of psoriasis and depression, but is it possible to have the mental health issues without the signs of psoriasis.

I couldn't find any abstracts on here that had looked into it, most tend to look into people with psoriasis and mental health issue as opposed to the other way around. People with mental health issues and psoriasis.

It's an interesting question and I suppose it is possible to have the mental health issues related to psoriasis without the signs on the skin, but I would have thought eventually the skin signs would appear. I also think it is possible for something like depression to bring on psoriasis, but for how long one could have the mental health issue part before the skin side showed itself I don't know  91

Like you I find those huge PDFs heavy reading and that is why I use abstracts on Psoriasis Club, but I'm sorry I haven't been able to find anything.

I'll keep the PDF and if anyone wants it they can let me know. But I think like you said the gist of it is:

"Depressed mood with psoriasis isn't just down to feeling embarrassed about how you look, there are physical changes in the brain. And is it possible one can have the other problems of psoriasis without the skin problems."
