Been perscribed Dovobet by my dermatologist for my psoriasis. It has worked well on some patches but not so much on the biggest and most stubborn patch that I have on the side of my lower leg. Seems to have removed much of the background redness but there are like 4-5 small spots on a pinkish background. The spots are quite sensitive to touch like when you get a pimple.

I was perscribed the dovobet scalp application which my dermatologist and the leaflet says is fine to use on psoriasis elsewhere on the skin. Just wondering if it's worth getting it in ointment form or whether results will be exactly the same?

Finally, would it be worth looking in to trying Dovonex? I've seen the Dovonex V Dovobet comparison thread but was just wondering whether any one has had any experience with Dovobet not working too well but Dovonex improving their psoriasis?

Thank you.

I've not used the scalp treatment myself, maybe others will know more but you should always stick to the rules of Dovobet as prescribed as it's not a long term treatment.

Dovonex and Dovobet are different and some will do better on one than the other. The only way to find out is try both to be honest.

I usually keep a tube of each for emergencies such as a flare up, but you must remember that Dovobet is the one to be the most careful with.

How would you recommend using it? Currently I apply it in the morning before work and then apply some Betnovate before bed. I have been using it every day for about a month.

Hi Arsenalfan and welcome to the club glad to see you are finding the site useful , if you have read the thread about the difference you will see that Dovobet is steroid based treatment and can be very effective. Whereas Dovonex is a vitamin D derivative  and works in a totally different way .

If you find that dovobet or betnovate which are both steroid ointments aren't working after a few weeks tell your doctor who will probably then try you on Dovonex.

But which ever you use you must follow the doctors instructions and only use for a short period if it's going to work you will see it working in a few weeks .....but we are all different and I found Dovonex did nothing for my skin when I have used it in the past

Hi Arsenalfan
I have used both and me and Dovobet just don't get on. It always makes my P much worse after about 3 days I just can't stand it any longer. I have given it several goes over the years.
Dovonex did diddly for me after a fortnights worth of application. If a topical is doing nothing in that time chances are it won't .
Oh and a warm welcome to our little club  Wave

Hi! I'm new to this site! Wave

I'm using Dovobet and just realized I can't get it anywhere anymore...seems to be discontinued. Any one have an idea on what could be replacing it? Thanks!

As far as I know it's the cream/ointment that has been stopped but the "Gel" is still available. That's here in France, it may different in your part of the world.

The Gel is the same thing but but in my opinion more messy, but it maybe worth asking at your pharmacie.

Welcome to Psoriasis Club by the way.  Wave
