Following on from Taltz getting FDA approval for psoriatic arthritis, the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has recommended it for use in Europe too.

Quote:
On 14 December 2017, the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) adopted a positive opinion recommending a change to the terms of the marketing authorisation for the medicinal product Taltz.

Taltz, alone or in combination with methotrexate, is indicated for the treatment of active psoriatic arthritis in adult patients who have responded inadequately to, or who are intolerant to one or more disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) therapies.”

Detailed recommendations for the use of this product will be described in the updated summary of product characteristics (SmPC), which will be published in the revised European public assessment report (EPAR), and will be available in all official European Union languages after a decision on this change to the marketing authorisation has been granted by the European Commission.

Good news for those that will benefit from it.

You would have to ask if Talz efficacy is pretty good, why would you want to take MTX at the same time?

In order to get on to Bios you will normally have to have failed on the orals first.  Huh

That's a good point John and they still do mention Methotrexate with Bio's. I always refuse and question what is the point on taking both, they never seem to have an answer though.

I can only think that dermatologists get a payback for prescribing poison to people that don't need it.

Ban Methotrexate for psoriasis patients I say.

I started Taltz a little over a year ago.  Cleared my plaque psoriasis fast.  Was incredible.  Then after about 6 months.  A few spots started coming back.  Then a few more.  Then full raging Psoriasis.  Legs covered again.  Might even be worse than before.  Pulled the plug on it in October.

I think each dose was $8,000 or so.  Thank goodness for insurance.  But what a disappointment.

I don't know if I developed anti-bodies or what made it stop.  i did have similar results with Cosentyx.  Maybe my immune system is too powerful.

Don't know where to go next.  My legs, particularly near ankles and knees burn like someone is hitting me with a belt sander whenever I bend.

Hi and welcome to the club....I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing failure on the latest types of biological drugs ....I'm assuming that before you were on Cosentyx and Taltz that you had failed on the others like Humira and Stelara .....
It's difficult to know where you go from there, I don't think the DMF drugs are available to you in the U.S. yet
But it might be worth asking about Skilarence and see if it has approval by the FDA.
. Apart from that you could look through the current treatments that are available here Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis

The other thing to try is diet that might help cutting certain foods out, take a look at The anti-inflamatory food pyramid
One other thing is to get a good quality coconut oil to moisturise with Thumb

Good luck
Jim

Approval has now been given by the European Commission for the use of Taltz in psoriatic arthritis in the EU.
