Protopic as far as I know is not prescribed for psoriasis but I thought this may be of interest to some as it gets 15 thread results in a search on the forum.

A leading French medical journal Prescrire has said that Protopic has disproportionally undesirable effects that include skin cancer and Lymphoma, also termed lymphatic cancer and are warning people to avoid it.

It’s mainly prescribed for severe eczema, but I’m sure some doctors do prescribe it for Psoriasis

A timely warning perhaps

Angry We were JUST prescribed this from our dermatologist for the face and armpits. Worked wonders in 2 days, but the pharmacist (who I love because she puts up with my endless questions) mentioned that it was very strong and the strength we were given was unusually high. Sigh.

Ouch! I'm wondering if you may need to switch dermatologists.

This is our second already.  The first was young, reckless and insensitive. This one is better but yes I agree.  Our referral doctor does not however.  He thinks I am overthinking everything and to concerned.  He does not have children or psoriasis so just doesn’t get it. Anyway i’ll Stick with this one for a while more and  balance their advice with my intuition and the amazing support, info and advice I get here.

Third time lucky could be the way to go, but it's your choice.

The important thing to remember is that no matter what a doctor tells you it's your (or in your case your Sons) body they are playing with, so it's your final choice and not theirs.

I’ve had an interesting time with my derms, the first was lovely and sympathetic but he retired.. the one I have now I thought was horrible at first, but I’ve completely changed my view of them over time. So give it time you may find things improve as you get to know them.

Thanks Turnedlight. I'm not going to rush to find someone new just yet. This one I like because he really takes the time to listen, and makes me feel like he values my questions and opinions, BUT I find he is a bit reckless in handing out  large amounts of super potent drugs with out explaining the risks involved or how to handle the medication. Thankfully I have a good relationship with our pharmacist, who knows I want to know everything, so I have her help...and here Smile
