Hello all,

My name is Adam Broomfield.

I've been suffering with psoriasis since 2008. I've had my fair share of treatments like most of you probably have.

The treatments I've tried so far are:

UV sessions
Dovobet
Revitol
Various moisturizers
Methotrexate

I'm currently on Acitretin. I've been on it for roughly 2 months now. There is no visual change at the moment. I have one more month on this treatment before I'm back to the dermatologist.

I'm looking forward to speaking with some of you people.

Many thanks,

Adam.

Hello Adam,

Welcome to Psoriasisclub.

We are a fully independent group of people spread out over  the world discussing Psoriasis and all its possible treatments. Next to all that interesting and serious talk we also have an interesting [Group Specific] section, where we forget our troubles and have some banter and laughing.

From your introduction I see that you have already quite some history in treatments. There are several people who are using Acetretin or have been using it. You will be able to find their stories if you use our search facility.
If you need any help in using the forum, please let us know, or ask one of the Staffs.
If you have a question, just find the right place and start a topic or reply to one of the posts.

Have fun with us, we are a nice bunch of people.
Caroline

Hi Adam and  Welcome to the forum, you will find us a friendly group of fellow sufferers, who are happy to share our experiences of the disease and the treatments. The site is packed with information so enjoy looking around, and shout out if you get stuck.
I hope the acetretin works for you, as it does for several of our members. I look forward to hearing your experience of it, what dose are you currently on ?
You will find we also have an active off topic section here and I look forward to perhaps seeing you there for a chat or a virtual drink sometime

We also have a free monthly newsletter that may be of interest as it covers new threads from the previous month and some links to some of the off topic threads. To subscribe you just click Groups and then click join group

Enjoy the club  Thumb

Hello Adam  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Looks like you are heading towards DMF (Fumaderm / Skilarence) or one of the Bio's, the two things that most of our members get the best results with.

You can find out more here:

Oral Treatments For Psoriasis

Biological Treatments For Psoriasis

Regards.

Hi Adam and welcome to the club Wave
I'm on my second round with Acitretin. The first round I was on 25mg then up to 30mg then back down to 25mg. It was only around the 4 to 5 month mark I started to see any real improvement. I have been plagued with side effects, dry lips peeling hands and feet and had to stop just after 12 months due to a continuous run of headaches. They restarted me again after 6 months when my Ps started to flare again but only on 10mg. They jacked it back to 25 after 12 weeks. It wasn't long before the peeling and dry lips returned but it is moderating the Ps so at the moment the benefit is outweighing the side effects but only just. Due to a previous medical condition this is the only drug my Dermatologist is prepared to offer at the moment, so it is sort of a case of putting up with it, my options are limited.

If there is anything I can help with just ask and I will do my best to give you an answer or point you in the direction of somewhere more knowledgeable.

We are a friendly bunch here and there is no such thing as a dumb question.

Hi Adam welcome to the club, most of the inmates are nearly sane , some are quite barmy and some are barmier than others but what we are is a group of fellow sufferers who will answer any questions you have truthfully from the position of experience.
There is more information on here than anywhere I have come across and no adverts or con merchants trying to sell you magic cures. Have a good look around and jump in.
I had Acitretin but it didn't do much for me except ingrowing toenails and a bad case of dry itchy skin everywhere.
All the best Dave

Hi Adam Welcome to the club, I have recently finished with Acitretin after about 4 months. The results were not bad as far as my skin went it really only had two side effects (dry eyes and badly cracked lips) it was not bad but since it didn't manage my arthritis my derm moved me to Humira a few weeks ago.  Good luck with Acitretin I hope it works for you.
