Hello Forum.

It is good to find a forum that devotes it's existence to Psoriasis , I don't talk about my skin disease to anybody accept my local doctor.

I have had psoriasis since I was 6 years old , I am now 48 and have learned to live with it as many of you folks have had to do.

When I was young I had it really bad .......... scalp , arms , trunk , knees . Back then I had creams prescribed and coal tar bath soak and shampoo.

When I was about 11 years old I had ultra violet treatment at the hospital which was very often and I was absent from school a lot , the UV treatment helped and was successful but I worry about how much radiation I was exposed to back in the 1980's when this treatment was quite new !

The worst thing for me about having psoriasis is not the disease itself but the long term psychological impact it had on me , as a child I isolated myself from the public and became quite a loner , as I got older the psoriasis reduced quite a lot and I found it easier to have relationships with people but I still have anxiety problems to this day , my doctor refers me to a mental health counsellor which helps with the anxiety problems.  Thumb

Hello Jiml.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post about my history with psoriasis , outside these forums no one really understands this disease and how it affects your life. Popcorn

Hello Jiml.

I read all intros  Thumb and there is a lot of similarities in lots of them, low self esteem, difficulties with relationships, depression ... yes it’s nice to know you’re not alone, most of my life I thought I was the only one with it, and like you I’m sure tried to hide it ....
But here you’re not alone we have a great community of understanding sufferers, we are always friendly there is no nastiness here that I have seen .
Fred set this up as a place he would be happy coming to.He funds it himself,  Without external pressures or advertising. We boot spammers out before they get the spam onto the public board.
I hope you enjoy it here..... I’m sure Fred will tell more of his reasons for starting the forum

Sorry you lost your post Jim, but I thought it best to merge the two threads together. I will try to remember to check if anyone is posting next time I do a merge.  Thumb

As for why I started Psoriasis Club: I won't bore anyone with all the details as I can get carried away about it all and could probably talk for hours about why I started and still do it.

I'm happy to answer any specific questions either in my ask thread, via Pm or on a new thread if you prefer, but for a quick answer see About
