I am newly diagnosed ....turned 50 in March and four days later experienced first ever psoriasis. I'm covered scalp to feet including my face which has caused me to feel anxious and depressed. So far had a short course of oral steroids that did nothing. Topical steroids hardly touched it. Currently using protopic on face and diprosalic on scalp and body. Any advice gratefully received.....

Are you seeing a dermatologist ? If not ask your GP to refer you to one, that is the best advice I could give.

Don't feel anxious and depressed, everyone here knows what you are going through and we will try to help. Getting diagnosed with Psoriasis is a life changer, but you are not alone now you have found us.

Have a good look around and ask as many questions as you like, we may not have all the answers but you will find a good bunch of people living in the same boat as you willing to help or listen.

Regards.

Fred.
Thank you. I have a dermatologist and am seeing him again on Wednesday so will ask him about the next steps as my face is a real mess and only marginally better after two weeks of protopic....but I'm not even sure how quickly to expect some of the ointments to work anyway

Yes you are doing it right  Thumb you press quote to reply to a post
Or if it’s not replying to a specific post, then just press “new reply” and write your message

Sorry I missed this post. Some topical's take longer than others to work and it depends on the severity and the person, but I would say if you are not seeing any change in 2 weeks then it probably isn't going to work for you. Most topical's are not for long term use anyway.

See my answer above.

For future reference it would be best to start a new thread with questions as they won't always get found in intro's. * We have no limit on the amount of new threads you can start as long as they are different questions, and a new thread will get you more answers.
