I have not tried cosentyx but I’ve used different pens - the humira seems completely painless, but taltz would sting. I decided with it not to use my leg at all as it’s much less stingy in the stomach. However with two jabs I guess they might not want you to use your stomach every time?

I have always found even with the syringes the leg is worse than the belly.

And to answer TL above. I always put one in the left and one in the right of my belly, it's unlikely you will go in exactly the same place twice. But even if you did it would have been absorbed by your body before the next shot.

I found Humeria stung like a bugger but I only get a minor sting to no sting from Cosentyx in the stomach.

The nurse left it up to me where to inject. I wanted to do one in the leg and one in the stomach and she also left it up to me whether I did both or if I wanted her to do one. Since my main concern was the angle for injecting in the stomach and hand mobility (which wasn't much of a problem, a bit awkward for me was all) I had her show me on the leg so I could try the stomach.

According to her, it shouldn't have stung in the leg and she thinks it was too cold. Taking them out of the fridge instead of the travel cold pack will be easier I think and I'm sure I'll try the leg again at some point so we'll see. Smile

Thanks!
Yes I'm very impatiently waiting on results.... but I think it might be a tad too soon yet!  Big Grin   However, it does seem like Cosentyx is one of the quicker acting treatments and I'll definitely be keeping this thread updated.

That’s the hard bit out of the way Kat, now sit back and wait for the results. Good luck.

Ok so today is my Week 1 (second injection)

Went as easy as the first one.  Since I started Cosentyx at a place where I've held steady this past year, I don't expect things to really happen quite yet.  But here's my picture update:

As you can see, it's about the same.

There is one area that seems to be improving.... when I was at the rheumatologist, we talked about psoriatic arthritis.   I've been having problems with my ankles for quite awhile now (probably close to a year) but I had bone spurs in one of them years back so I thought it was perhaps that.  But I noticed that after the morning stiffness (or stiffness from sitting too long) that it actually felt a bit better which would be strange for bone spurs.  So after much discussion, he felt that I might be showing signs of psoriatic arthritis.  Now that wasn't a diagnosis, it was a discussion and one that we agreed to continue on my next visit since he knew I would be starting Cosentyx.

Maybe I'm crazy as it's only been one week, but I do know how stiff my ankles have been every morning for this past year and they definitely are LESS stiff (still stiff but less so)  And no, the stiffness and pain is not gone but it is improved and since Consentyx is the only new thing I've added then I can't help but think I may already be seeing some improvement there.  Time will tell and it's definitely too soon to know anything for sure.

As far as side effects from this injection, well nothing as of yet but if that changes, I'll let you know.

Smile
