I stumbled across this wonderful forum searching for answers, yet again, sigh!!

2019 marks my 30th year as a psoriasis sufferer, so ill try give a bit of background on what i have tried over all those years

tar baths/cortisone creams
Naturopath - natural concoctions and acupuncture
Chinese herbalist - yes i drank "soup" made from boiled beetles, among other things  sick
PUVA - several times
PUVB
Methotrexate twice - 1st time cleared ok, 2nd time no good and got very sick even with folic acid supplements
Cyclosporin
Stelara since 2010 (last dose 25/3/19)

and 1 week ago started my first loading dose of
Cosentyx ( 2 pens x 150ml)

Stelara and i were getting along fine   Smile , however, at the start of 2018 i began to have issues with my knee. Pain, swelling & stiffness.  Did all the imaging and started physio. Dermatologist put me on Celebrex, which helped, but GP said only to take it short term/when needed, so stopped.  After 4 months of physio i decided to stop going, while my knee did get stronger, my symptoms were the same.  Easter time my lower back started hurting without any cause, ignored it.  At my recent Dermatologist appt he switched me to Cosentyx as he believes the knee issue is PsA related. Back on the Celebrex too.

So here I am, feeling quite odd because for 9 years i had a 3 monthly injection and my psoriasis was completely clear,,,,,,,, now i feel like I'm heading into the unknown yet again. Whilst my psoriasis is completely clear, I'm really hoping it stays that way!!!

Nice to be part of such a supportive group

Hello Bubbles,

Welcome to psoriasisclub.
You already have had quite some treatments .. Smile

Now starting with Cosentyx, in our eyes one of the far better treatments, hope you will last long on it.

Indeed we are a supportive group. We share our thoughts, ideas and experiences, in order to help one another, and we always try to have a listening ear to anyone who joins us. Hope you will have a good time with us. Smile

Cheers,
Caroline

Hi Bubbles and welcome to the club.
Your journey is very similar to mine in many ways, I am still on Stelara but it's starting to lose ground but still on it but looking at the same stuff you are on now.
Looking forward to hearing more from you. Take care and you will find this place great as we all know what the problems are because we all live with them.

Hello Bubbles  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I was much the same as you, after 6 years + on Stelara I moved to Cosentryx and it was the best thing I have ever tried for psoriatic arthritis. I've been on it now for 2 .5 years and it's still great for psoriatic arthritis, but I sometimes need a little help with the psoriasis by using some diprosone. I have a thrread about it here Cosentyx for psoriatic arthritis Fred's journey if you want to read it.

I hope you do well an it, and don't hesitate to start a thread about your journey in Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis if you wish. It's a good way of keeping track of your treatment and your input could help others.

Regards.

Fred.

Boiled beetle soup? How did they catch them? My brother clears the stink bugs from his lime trees with a vacuum cleaner. I never thought of making a soup with them.

Very glad you are on effective treatment and I hope that the Cosentyx works as well for you as it does for others here.

Cheers

Welcome!

I hope Cosentyx helps, it seems to work very well with psoriatic arthritis. It's also known to start working faster than a lot of other treatments so I hope you see an improvement soon!

Thank you Caroline

My Derm seems to think Cosentyx is also better at managing P & PSA so fingers crossed!
