I’ll be taking my third dose tonight and just wondering when I could be seeing results? Pretty sure my dermatologist said it could take 3 months but obviously I want instant results (yes I’m impatient!). Luckily I’ve had no side effects. My slight concern is my GP may not do my 4 week blood test due to the coronavirus but guess have to see when the time comes.

Usually most treatments are stopped after 12 weeks if there is no improvement, but some dermatologists are different.

I'm not up on Methotrexate but as it's only your third dose I would say it's too early as they have probably started you on a low dose anyway.

Good to hear you have had no side effects, but I would try and give your dermatologist a call about having your bloods done as it's very important with methotrexate.

*I have made an edit to your thread subject as we have a lot of methotrexate threads and it could have got missed.

Good luck.

Hi I'm told by my doctor's surgery that they are still doing routine blood tests but will phone me the day before and question me to see if I have been isolating and to see if I have any symptoms of covid-19 if I have they will discuss it at the time
I have a blood test due on Monday morning and will get a call Friday afternoon

As far as methotrexate is concerned I think they will keep increasing your dose till it shows signs of working for me it was 25mg once a week that's ten of those tiny tablets ....it did work well at that strength but it didn't make me feel great so I had to stop it and move to DMF drug Fumaderm but  they are now prescribing Skilarence. Which is working well

Hi Cowsaregreat

If I remember correctly, it took about four to five months and I was completely clear.  I had no side effects.  I did have to go for blood tests on a regular basis.

I also had folic acid tablets that I had to take with it.

You just need to be patient.  It should work.

I have been on methotrexate for some years now.    I take 4 tablets every friday.    I cannot remember exactly how long it took to take effect, but it wasn't that long.   It really works for me - I was covered from head to feet  (except face)  and I have NO psoriasis at all.      wish I known about this years ago - I learnt about it by accident.

That is strange. It is the normal de-facto treatment when they start with pills.

I started to see results after about 7 - 8 weeks, after 6 month's, as long as you are compatible with MTX, you will start seeing impressive results.
I've now been on it for just over 10 years, my total coverage is now down to a small spot on one knee.

LOng term is great, as long as you don't have any problems, just perservere, it will be worth it.

Best Regards
Micky

A quick update......... a year on I’m probably 85% clear. My dose is now 25mg every week. Really pleased I’ve found something that works for me!
