Hi Guys (gals)

So I am disappointed with my journey so far.  I am interested in knowing what others might be doing, in as far as those whom are doing races, whether its a triathlon, or marathon, or swimming, (or sport of yours, that anyone would consider stressful)  Today, I have looked, and found some sites that support psoriasis, and PA, but in my cursory looks, I couldn't tell if the person is being treated, or if they are participating in that activities as not being treated?

My background, I am a couple years away from 50, and I am still serving my countries finest armed services. Such as I need to serve my country, I need to pass my fitness test.  Which is in no way super difficult.  I do have hard time mustering the "guts" or what ever that tells me, I am too exhausted to do anything, and which I tend to find  something else to do.  I would love to do one more marathon, start riding my bicycle around the local trails.

Currently doing 5 pills of methotrexate.  recently dropped from 7.  (I don't remember dosage level) previously I was on acetritan, and that effected my eyes prescription, and various other issues, I don't recall, outside the eye change of prescription 2 times after starting taking the prescription.  Light box, I was in a long time, during summer time, I cannot continue due to being so Scandinavian that my white skin can not tell if I am burnt or not. (Not my call, I would have continued)  I felt that the light did minimize the spots.  it just took a while.

as well as clob whatever steriod cream, and that vitimin d ointment.  (sorry If I didn't find the same article, I looked for marathon, and other similar words)

Hi Arfstrom and  Welcome to the club I know you've been a member quite a while, but this is my first opportunity to greet you......I like your introduction thanks for the history
I'm not one for too much strenuous exercise, I do a bit when it suits me but mainly cycling on safe cycleways close by where I live .....my medication has no affect on my energy but I don't think you have a DMF drug available to you where you live yet

I found when I was on methotrexate it made me extremely tired and lethargic, so that might be why you don't feel motivated. If it's Methotrexate that is affecting your motivation, tell your dermatologist as perhaps it's time to move on to something else ....

We have a few members that admit to doing  strenuous exercise hopefully They may spot this and answer

I wish you good luck and hope you get to doing marathons and cycling again soon  Thumb
Jim

Hi, nice to meet you Wave

I would say from personal experience that methotrexate is not the right drug to be on if you want to carry on as normal. It made me feel very tired and lethargic. I am not sporty myself though.

Hi Afstrom,

Not sure if this is any help but: one of my work colleagues is on Humira (for Chrons disease) and she says she is a lot less tired, runs again. Also instead of flopping into bed at 21:00 hours she is now able to stay up until 23:00

Then again; I'm not sure how this relates to Psoriasis because it's a different auto-immune disease, with probably different effect on health and energy levels.

Personally I don't do strenuous exercise, although the 3x a week power yoga is partly quite intense. And lovely =]

Good luck!

Power yoga !!! Wow  Whistle just kidding, hihi, I do believe it has its intense parts Wink

Hi Arfstrom,

Welcome to the club, nice to meet you finally.

In my opinion I am closest to Jim and Fred. MTX has the well known side effect of making you tired. That makes it very difficult to run a marathon as you just cannot find the energy.
Try to search for something different, jim already suggested a good replacement.
As long as you don't have PsA you should be able to do it. I did some half marathons, before I got PsA.
When on DMF I have never had a lack of energy, may be good to know for you.

Cheers,
Caroline

Okay, Thanks for the info, I will see my Derm guy/gal in about a month, I will ask about DMF.  I think the Humira one is out of the question until I am out of the service.

I don't know thou.  If you know anthing else, let me know, unless we find Fred, Hi Hi, and who else?

Tobie

The new DMF drug here in Europe is Skilarence I'm not sure if it has FDA approval but I'm sure it must be aiming for approval in America
If you can get it give it a try it's not an easy drug to get used to... but for me when it started working it totally changed my life
Good luck

Another option is acetretin which shouldnt make you tired like methotrexate  Thumb
